How long should BUM articles be? 250 words or 400 words?

I'm thinking about getting into BUM marketing but I have read different things about articles sizes. It seems like most people are looking for 300-400 word articles but then I have also read that its better to keep them sort so that people don't get borded and make it to the bottom to see your links.

Do you think that posting 10 articles at 250 word per day will produce the same result as 400 word articles?

I go for about 400 words per article.

Some places have a minimum requirement, so be sure to check that out.

    600. I use isnare and that is their minimum, but you have a higher approval rate if you go 700-800.

I go for 400 words, too (for ezinearticles). Not too short, not too long. And cheaper than 500-words :D

I go for as long as they need to be to keep them interesting but not having the reader go "yeah, yeah, okay, i get it!"

Instead, you should keep things concise, elaborate only where needed, and make the article useful. You will find that different topics need different lengths. I've found I sit at about 400 words frequently.

Okay I will make them 400 words. Now I have also read that you need to submit a min of 5 articles a day. Is that still the case? How many days do you have to keep doing this to make it work?

5 articles a day x 10 days is 50 articles. How many is enough or do you keep going?

You can only write about one topic so much and then you run out of ideas.

It all depends on how good the article is.

On average, it shouldn't take a reader no longer than 5 minutes to read. Like a magazine article.

The MOST important aspect of Bum Marketing is Keyword research. Keep your articles at 300 words or more, use good KW's and you'll be good.

I would recommend doing some keyword research. Use the tools out there (SEOBook has a decent one) and start finding out what people are searching for in your niche. Write about those things. If it has a decent amount of people looking for information on that topic, maybe do more than 1 or 2 articles on it.

There is no given amount of articles you should do. Some will give you more traffic than others, but don't expect to be getting hundreds of visitors daily. Article marketing is mroe about a getting a consistent flow of traffic over a long period of time, but usually isn't high in numbers. The benefit is that they are targeted. Just do it when you can and maybe rotate your efforts between other marketing methods too. That's at least how I do it.

I actually make a great deal of money from article marketing... It can be very profitable when done right

Here are some essential ingredients of a good article:

    1) A great headline that includes your targeted keywords ( I suggest Highly targeted longtail keywords)

    2) People can skim it easily, so you want multiple subheadings throughout your article

    3) Your taglines and lead-ins should be catchy, so they grab the reader's attention and get them wanting to read more.

    4) Your article should contain bullet points, so your reader can easily skim through your article, pick out the pieces they want and move on.

You DO NOT write an article on the Web the same way as you would write an article for a book!

If you write an article with long and boring paragraphs, no one is going to get to the end of the article and click on your links

Remember, you are not writing a novel here, you are writing a SHORT article (I suggest 250-300 words max)

Highlight the key points of your article, keep it short, sweet and to the point.

Lastly, make your reader WANT MORE, that is the reason they click through your link.

I keep them to 250-300 words. That's the minimum for most important article sites and keeping them shorter means I can produce more articles per day. With my articles I'll I'm trying to get them to do is click my affiliate link, so a short article with a lead in to the hyperlink is the most efficient way of doing it.

I make my articles not more than 300 words. This will fit into any article submission directory

I was also reading that there is not much point in posting them to other article sites besides EZ but if you are targeting traffic then itsn't it better to reach out to more people? I know it won't help wtih the Google rankings anymore but it will give you more traffic from the article readers.

I would stick with EZA to begin with. Then branch out to other services. Get a rhythm going.

Good points here. Also remember that when you go to submit these articles there are a few tricks that you can use.

    * Use E -zine articles (or another highly ranked article site) as an anchor and link to the original article from subsequent submissions to get it more authority.
    * Bookmark your articles.
    *Ping your bookmark accounts

You are right, you can only write about one subject so many times. Rewrite the original by switching around paragraphs, and changing out words , especially adjectives (use thesaurus )

Change the headlines to capture additional key phrases. Try not to submit multiple times with the same headline.

Chose key phrases that have 10,000 search results or less to make it easier to capture.

Use your bio box for follow up statements (with your links of course) unless you have substantial authority or experience in the niche or subject matter. IOW if you are just writing articles no need to draw attention to that, if you are a PHd in the subject matter or hold significant experience, then you should post it.

Above all else when writing your articles, get to the point. Don't meander around. Provide the information quickly and efficiently to get the reader to the bottom of the page where your links are, without rushing through it.

If you are going to write more than 4 paragraphs separate them with sub points, as was mentioned to break it up and make it easy to skim.

I'd be interested to know what proportion of the people recommending 300/400 words has ever actually tried persistently using 800 words and given that idea an equivalent trial. Just a thought! ;)
