Why exactly are you submitting your site to ODP/DMOZ?

Are you aware that the long time relationship with Google and ODP is over and a listing in ODP has no value towards better listings in Search Engines?

I disagree. I got accepted in DMOZ and now the page that Google Dir is showing is a PR 4 backlink to me!....

I submit anyway. I submit my sites to all the free directories... DMOZ should not be considered any different (other then they are a bit slower then any other directory on the net).

I think that you need to interpret what Google means.

What it is saying, in my opinion, is not to rely solely on directories. Lets be honest, getting listed in dmoz is good, it is an authoritive site, it does try and list and maintain only good quality sites, so obviously google will value it more than most "run of the mill" directories. It wont however value it more than any other high quality directory, be it BOTW, Joe Ant, etc.

No directory is a magic link. ;)

Because I like to submit to real and free directories that actually help people. I also love HUGE directories .. so I can stay a while.

I have listing in DMOZ, but I put it there as a service to others, not for ranking on a webmaster guru list :p

I submit some nice other people websites here and there... in weird hope categories I use to maintain will ever get a visit from editor, but since they introduced that horrible captcha it become impossible to submit anything. :(

If Google no longer values a link on the DMOZ/ODP Directory and the relationship is over, then why does Google still use the directory?

LOL. Dang, THIS was the conclusion you extrapolated from the text in the link from the other thread??

Google just ceased to explicitly make the Dmoz recommendation. They did NOT however remove the value of good directory links from their algorithm.

Since the guy who gave you the tip isnt correcting the erroneous conclusion, get your Google tips from Matt Cutts, not bitter ex-Dmoz eds that stayed just long enough to do 6 adds. :)
