Does anyone have any experience with this? I have always thought this would help but what I believe I've found is that some low paying advertisers use this to get on my site when I would think it would be a bit more competitive.
I think people are answering this based on different meanings of 'target', can you explain a little bit more about what you mean?
You probably mean placement targeting; if that's the case, then yes, you can make your ads targetable by advertisers. Say, if you wanted to make certain formats (160x600 or 300x250) targetable, you could do that. Bear in mind that AdSense also has an Ad Review Center where publishers can review all ads that are placement targeted to their sites, so they can block any advertiser they want.
I am a publisher so I make some of the ad units on my site targetable in Adsense Setup->Channels for advertisers. I guess my question is that by doing this in a very competitve niche does it help drive up the cpc? I just wanted to know if anyone was doing it and what their experince was over not being targetable. Sorry for any confusion.
Is that what you mean? I set this to "yes" for 2 weeks. My CPC slightly went up, but not really sure if this setting is the reason. However, I am going to leave the setting that way (targeting = yes). I hope I understood you correctly.
Do you mean targeting the ads according to your site's contents? Or you wanna filter out low paying ads?
I think people are more insterested in technology nowadays and based ads on a tech-contented website would be more attracting for usesr, so you may get more clicks and more clicks mean much more money. You can find other interesting topics for content of your webssite.
