How much to charge for a banner on PR4 site?

    Hi folks,

My site is PR4 and I'm thinking about charging for banner blocks at the right.

How much would you generally charge per month for a 160 x 160 banner?

    7,000+ visits per day
    50,000+ pageviews per day

    Thanks for any advice! :)

I guess it really depends on how much traffic you think you can expect. To be quite honest, if it is targeted traffic, it might be pretty valuable. I'm going to just say $20 if you think you are getting about 30-40 targeted visitors per day. Maybe a little bit more, but not much.

pricing your ads is one of the hardest things to do. why? it all depends on niche and targeted traffic.

what i do when i sell banners on my sites is the following: i search for niche sites with around the same alexa rank and PR and ask the owners how much they charge for an ad.

Check how much your competitors are charging, and undercut them, by say, 25%.

I would have an auction system just have a really low minimum price and then tell them they can bid more if they want a better spot. Only the top x bids will get to purchase ads.

This way if they come back and bid more, you'll know there is value in your ads. If not, start lower.

Basically my answer is to let the market decide the price, like an auction. I believe this is how Shoemoney.com runs his ads.

You should charge depending on the traffic that you could send to them and not the pr of your site.
