    i think dark blue is great with some black but not too dark blue and lil black :)

    Depends on more than the website design.
    What's your topic? Imagine a website on the ocean that was in pink, for example. You want your site's look and theme, including colour, to match what you're talking about. A money or environmental website, for example, you'd definitely want some shade of green. It's already associated with the topic, so using another colour will detract from your perceived authority. There's not so many topics associated with blue (the only one I could think of was depression, but it IS early in the morning over here) which may be why people like using it.

    Maybe if you posted a link to your site, and the topic, you might get more specific advice, down to shading etc.
