This week, Ill try to promote my sites using blog comments on the biggest blogs on the internet (they are in the WeBlogsInc network). Anyone ever did this in the past? Did it work great?
Hi Stev. If the comment you leave doesn't pertain to the post...it's considered comment spam and is frowned upon in the blogosphere. If you can find a way to promote your blog while leaving a valid comment in the particular post...you should be fine.
Of course, the links Ill leave will be about the topics of the blog posts. I'm just wondering how much traffic this could bring, since the WeBlogsInc network is huge... and my sites fits very well with their biggest site: engadget. Well, I'll promote my sites on 12 of their sites and we will see. Ill post my stats here when done.
I've gotten a few visitors from Blogs and other sites that I have left comments on... I think you would have to leave tons of comments before you would get some decent traffic from it...
This is a very time consuming way of promoting your blog but the pay-off can be huge. There is a person that has a service doing exactly that (leaving relevant comments, with your links). If you are interested PM me and I will try and find her contact info.
Keep posting comments on blogs, but make sure that you dont do this very often or they could think that you are spamming. This is also good for link building. Good Luck with your site. Make Money Online
Most blogs use 'rel=nofollow' on their comments section... so they won't count for SEO applications. I do get a little bit of traffic from blog commenting though... not a ton but every bit helps. Instead of just reading I try to be a little more active on blogs now.
Apart from the spam issue, as the others say I think there are far more productive ways to spend your time on promoting your site. How about emailing relevent sites and 'requesting' links?
I tried with my site (see signature) and it works only if you write really provocative comments. Aeguing with the author or with other commentators works well. Again, it seems to be very time consuming way of promoting your site and that's very pity. Unless the blog you try to get visitors from is highly targeted for your site, this is not a good way of promotion I think
