hello friends, by now you all must have heard about Personalization and Preference being incorporated by Google in its search. Does it mean that SEO has no future? Even if it survives, will it transform into something else and become known by some other name?
there is a similar thread talking about this and in no way does this impact SEO just your own personal preference hence the name. It will only bump a site according to your google account so if my website is number 4 on a keyword and I sign on my google account and bump it up it will go back to number 4 if I sign off, try it for yourself
As already said, personalized results are all opt-in at the moment. SearchWiki and Preferred Sites (still under the experimental stage and not everyone is included in the test) require you to be logged into Google account for it to take effect. Not many people stay logged in and therefore has minimal effect. As and when they get incorporated in mainstream search (along with behavioral data) it might change the way we view SEO today. But that will take some time because personalized and behavioral data are too noisy and not feasible to be implemented in the present state. Not before search engines find a way to get rid of the "noise" and IR experts are divided in their opinion.
absolutely correct my friend but when you use Firefox, you get automatically logged in to any google service if you are already logged in any of them and if at that point of time you use google to search you will get different results.
Hi Friends, Read all posts. Here I am new member and also one of the seo beginner. So Thank You Very Much for sharing this helpful information.
seo might vary drastically in the future. We can never rely on current SEO. But marketing will never die. Promote... promote ... your site to get visitors
this is totally waste. Personalization will not effect much. No one bothers to delete or upgrade some site from result. People never feels interested in playing with results , no one has time to waste with clicking here and there.
It won't happen because so many will try it, but only few can buy the positions and the remaining..What they have to do they have to stop their work but no one stops their work..So by chance if a person buys slots 1 2 3 etc.., but the remaining slots will be there no..No need to worry..SEO will be having good demand in the future.. hire seo expert

I think it will have a small effect on SEO. The thing is many MAJOR websites do not rely on SEO but yet direct traffic because of their branding. I think this will have a small effect just like many other things through the history of SEO where small changes made people adapt.
Internet Marketing is an evolving industry, but I don't think we're anywhere close to search engines not being valuable. The average internet user is always going to want to go somewhere to find websites related to what they are looking for. Whether a "search engine" is used or whether there is something else down the line, there will always be a demand for as long as the internet is around to filter through the millions of sites to find what they are looking for. The concept of SEO is only take make your website filter properly from other websites. We'll still be doing that in some form or fashion for as long as the internet is around.
SEO will never die...Google will always need a way to display the best possible websites to users. It may change slightly but still be very important. Common sense....think about it.
If google were to ever make Personalization have a major effect on the search engine result pages, enterprising people like myself would simply make 50k accounts and vote ourselves up and competitors down. Which is why they will probably never make Personalization a major part in determining positioning.
