    Hi,

Which is better to set up my URL?

    www.mydomain.com/page.html

    OR

    www.subdomain.mydomain.com

Is it true that the first one is better?

My homepage has page rank 3 but my subdomain located at www.subdomain.mydomain.com has pagerank 2. Is it true that if i set up this way I'm wasting my homepage page rank?

Please advise. Thank you very much

    Use both of them.

If you have a PR3 main site, focus on adding pages to it. Each page you add will do well.

But with your subdomain, optimize it with a different niche, and utilize it as well. You win both ways.

I started out using subdomains, but have changed my preference to going with /folder now. Subdomains can be like a separate site, and I agree with above poster that they should be used uniquely. When using /folder, the posibilities are endless, and I've found that to be my favorite way of adding content at this time.

    I also prefer www.mydomain.com/
Its harder to get the site to rank when there is a subdomain involved

The whole reason I started out with the subdomain.domain.com thingy was so I could list the sites into the google webmaster panel. For some reason, this meant something to me a couple of years ago.

Google wouldn't allow me to enter domain.com/folder - but it allowed subdomain.domain.com.
