    Hey Everyone!!

How come nobody is exploiting the power of www.knol.google.com?
It is owned by google so I guess google will weight it more than Wikipedia or any other website.

You can backlink keywords back to your domain.

Your pages can easily get PR 4+ due to PR9 homepage.

Give it a try, I am in love with it already.

3 reasons not to spam knol:

    • The links are nofollowed, therefore carry no weight (eg http://knol.google.com/k/cyber-duck/uk-logbook-loans/3mgr3rcz06nf7/2# )
    • They rarely show up in the serps, and in terms of authority, they are less strong than Wikipedia
    • Spamming a Google owned project (Groups,Knol,Pages...) is like kicking yourself in the balls - generally a bad bad idea

I have experimented on Google Knol, its suppose to be Google's answer to Wikipedia but it really does not generate any signficant traffic. All links in the knol are "nofollow". It seems Google has not done much to promote it, also Google search seems to ignore it. I don't think I've ever seen a Knol in organic search results.

Knol really has no traffic to it compared to wiki. I would say Google feels like they cannot dominate their own search engines with their tools and websites so they make Knol rank far behind but have access through google accounts. But yeah like someone said you definitely don't want to spam Knol because Google regulates it heavily and will blacklist your website quick.

    Totally disagree with you.
I have 6000 words article totally dominating GOOGLE.COM results.

First submit few articles then come here and make these bold statements.
There is no JUNK website on the net that can beat 6000+ RESEARCHED ARTICLE.

Knol is a place where you put your high quality articles.

People like you who cry about NOFOLLOW, will never make cash online. I have seen backlinks in google from sites with nofollow.

I dont believe in nofollow. It sends traffic, so I dont care.

500-600 uniques a month thats fine with me 10-20 of those pages and you get 10-20k visitors..

    get your facts straight.

These are the facts... Here's what google has to say about the NoFollow attribute: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2005/01/preventing-comment-spam.html...

I'd say it's You who needs to get the facts straight!

knol doesn't compare to wikipedia, yet. but would be good to become an active member now, so that when it actually blossoms, you'd have a good authority there.

They will not value it nearly as high as Wikipedia, no matter it's their own project (unless they lose their mind of course). Everyone can publish article in Knol and there is practically no quality control, so don't expect it to mean much (FYI the links that you put inside an article are dofollow links).

I've just had a good look around a few Knol articles and they seem that they are dofollow.
Why do people say that they are nofollow?

I guess most people love to argue without making the effort to check the facts :) I confirm they are dofollow. But I also confirm there isn't much to be expected from these links (tested).

I've never seen a single Knol page appear in a SERP, so I have completely ignored that service.

been there, done that, got the knol t-shirt... agreed its a place to post so why not capitalise hay? i dont know the exact traffic or optimasation they have passed on but, for the time and effort it takes to prodecue the knol there are much more affective ways of spending your time... if u ask me like...

however i like the idea its google, obviously dont just spam the bad boi but at the same time why not put it on their radar?

either or knols are here to stay and so i agree with the dood above, build ya self a wee rep now n then if it does go sky high your already in place to be an authoritative figure...

    Peace out x:p

I used knol a lot on launch, the backlink power is minimal. Knols don't rank that well naturally either, a knol with a few backlinks ranks lower than even an ezinearticle with none. I abandoned my knolling shortly after I started.

Man I had sites under ~100 alexa dont teach me these kid backlinking stuff.
I dont believe in everything out there, I try my stuff.

You build a user base with Knol. You become an expert in your field through Knol.

It is not for you if You cannot write good articles or if you cannot spend $50-60 to get a quality article written by someone.

Anyways you are young..you have a lot to learn..

I would much rather utilize hubpages.com because the site ranks the highest out of all the writing sites, even Squidoo. They also allow you to use adSense and Kontera on your site, meaning that you can earn just as much as any other writing service would allow you to.

you have to have loads of posts and votes for links out to be authorized.

why not try other google assets such as notebook, feed reader, bookmarks and all the other stuff to build your profile too - it works for me!
