14 Years Old Dating 19 Years Old.

Well, not quite. In the UK if a guy's under 21 and has no previous convictions for it, he can't actually be convicted of any offence which would put him on the Sex Offenders register. (Might still be classed as such by opinionated people with strong views, though, admittedly).

Obviously people "mature" at very different ages (and perhaps girls more quickly than boys, overall?), but I do think that effectively and realistically, there's a much bigger age-gap between 14 and 19 than there is between, say, 20 and 25.

 

That is a bit too young to start a relationship or so I would of thought. If she was 18 and he was 23 then it would be a differnt story cause she's 18 and should of matured already.

 

That is a little young what would they have in common think they shouldn't be dating

 

I would Say If they Both Know Well about each other its ok,
if its legal at your place its ok,
But I have seen thing like that on net there realtionship will not last long more then 6-9 months

 

Yes she can, if she wants. But I don't support it. Still she can take wrong decision. Dating is far more than friendship. She should be atleast 18.

What she's doing, I think it's premature.

 

Such scenario was looked taboo in the past, but the world has changed though some traditional values must remain intact. Depending on your current location, people have varying views about when to date and when not to date.

 

my wife is 5 years younger than me...so the difference isn't a problem, if you're asking me...
because she's a teenager, the girl hasn't the proper age to date that guy, at least in accordance with the laws practiced in almost all countries...

 

Yes why not? As long as those two already know what it means with the word dating then it should make no harm..

But if the fourteen-year-old gal is just forced then its already a different story...

I have a friend in a similar situation, it is a worry and sometimes really gross and even wrong.

But in the end, its thier choice.

 

The problem ain't the age gap, the problem is the age group !

She isn't a mature, he is, she is a minor, while he is an adult.

 

they don't need to be having sex...its not all about sex...different countries have different values as well as the people

 

Well, i'm 19 and I wouldn't date anyone below 17...and 17 would be only if I really like them, still think it'd be a bit weird (especially if they were still at school).

Plus anything below 16 here in the UK and i'd be classed as a sex offender...:/ so yeah...not going to happen.

Thats just about it wrapped up . When I was 14 I dated an 18 year old and looking back, I know I was too young to be in a relationship with an adult when I was basically a child at that age. As 'tough' or 'mature' as some 14 year old girls might like to think they are, 14 years does not = adult and 19 years does. Dont mean to patronise any 14 year olds here btw but, she's too young for him, 14 is too young.

Yes, but the OP is (I believe) in the U.S. where most 19 yr. old guys do not appreciate the idea of celebacy.
And just because in other cultures not having sex is the socially enforced norm, does obviously NOT mean that this is being enforced by the young people.
It may be what they tell their mom, but reality normally looks a lot different than theory.

I live in strictly Catholic Costa Rica, and trust me, reality is far from what is being advertised.

 

Personally I wonder what type of 19 yr old guy would date a 14 yr old girl. My guess would be sexual motivation. I mean it's not like they could have a proper intelligent exchange of ideas. I guess I just prefer brains over beauty.

 

Legally, it depends on the location. Personally, five years isn't that huge of a difference. Less so as the ages increase. I see nothing wrong with it as long as it is a consensual relationship and the older party is not pressuring the younger into things they aren't ready for.
