In all honesty, I'm so sick and tired of people wanting premium services for a rediculously low price. How can someone expect to be top 5 out of 2 million sites for any less than minimum wage?

You're going to be working for 1/4 of a year. At 4 hours a day for 5 days a week, you're looking at 240 hours of work. If you're are working for minimum wage which is about 6 dollars an hour that's going to be atleast 1200 dollars. Now, considering the complexity of your work and the skill required I believe minimum wage is too low for this project. An expert SEO and Web Developer should be making atleast $15-20 an hour.

At $17 per hour times 240 hours, total cost for the project should be around $3000

Now, the hard part is finding someone with enough money to pay you. Damn economy

depending on how much experience you have, you should charge
1 yr of experience in the field of SEO = 250 to 350 USD a month
You should pass off all expenses to the employer ei; internet, sub-contractor, ect.

The deal is over and I show them some of my works and some of the keywords I optimized... especially in article marketing... They don't want to pay more than $2k per month so I dropped the deal... I have the right to ask higher price because of my experience and I have some proofs that I can bring their site to top 1 with tight competition...

This is why I don't sell SEO services to people who are smart enough to get on this forum.

The only way you can make money selling SEO services is to the Chinese restaurant owner up the road. Then you can impress him when you get to the #1 spot in Google for "Norman Chinese Restaurant".

This guy will also gladly pay $250 / month to stay in the number 1 spot, and it don't take 10k worth of links to get there.

It is not the number of search results, it is the strength of the niche that matters.

The pricing will always depend on your present income. Check your income per hour and then multiply to the average hour you need per day and multiply to the number of days.

It is always my basis.. If my client won't agree to this I better stay on what I am doing..

Present Income per hour X Number of hour per day X Number of Days = $ Total Project Cost

If the clinet wants some basic SEO stuff then yes charge at a flat rate

But if the customer has soem certain goals and he wants you to increase his sales or something similar to that why charging at a flat rate?

I would charge them according to the results...

I think that when you are doing SEO or PPC it is all about ROI(return on investment)

    For example :
Let's say that the company wants to rank for the keyword x

Now let's say that this keyword x has 2 million annual searches from google users...

If you manage let's say to attract 500k of search results with a good conversion rate the company will have way more profit...

    Why charging a flat rate?

Just think what will the customer of your services earn from you and charge him according to that...

I think that most of the top SEO companies use this method...I know at least one that does that :)
