I can tell that the eCPM will be higher. However, i suggest you test for a week and see what is the result

That would make sense. Quality vs. quantity.

Thats very true mate. The first adsense ad that appears on your page is the one that contains the highest CPC for you.

For example if you have 5 ads appearing on a 160x600 vertical ad then the TOP(1/5) ad will pay the most and the last(5/5) will have the least CPC of all.

This doesn't work for everyone. I have tried it several times and seen my income fall drastically. FOr my site, what works best so far is having three large sqaure ads and a link unit on the page. This has seen me make the most money on a daily basis.

Less units doesn't work for everybody but it may work for you so you may as well try for a week.

placing in correct category will makes u lots of clicks. visit some big websites like techcrunch, problogger, johnchow, labnol, etc. and check where they placed their ads.

Thanks for your replies everyone, very much appreciated. I'm going to try this out on my proxies (since I have seen a fall on earnings per click).

It can be the case to have fewer number of ads displayed on web pages and having better and more clicks on them because everyone is hating to see pages loaded with several rows of ads showing just left and right and also popping up for no reason.

Yes it is true. Because if you have less ad in a page, the ads will be shown will be more relevant on your content so there will be more chance of getting clicks.

I have tried the fewer ads and to be honest it made no difference at all, just concentrate on your keywords.

No. All you have to make sure is where you have higher CTR have the first adsense block there.

You will be getting more impressions, but you will also be lowering the chance someone clicks. With 5 units, there are 5 chances to catch the visitors' eye, but with 1, you only have one shot.

less ads works better. not as many clicks but the payout is much higher - (my case - might be different with you and your sites)
