I just noticed that wikipedia links are valid for SEO :D Nice, I have a PR7 and a PR6 there :) Anyone has wikipedia linking on an important category to your site? :)

I have few PR6 links from Wikipedia.
The extra good thing is, that it gives you not just high PR link but some visitors as well.

Just that on Wikipedia, on some categories are some bad peole who are always removing your websites, in order to keep some very design ,300 words plain text files...

I also tried this and the admin removed it. My site is very relevant and helpful, so it's total bullshit that it got removed. To be honest it kind of made me rethink how "free" I thought wikipedia is.

It's always best to leave it to regular Wiki users to post your links, that way they tend to stick around.

I know there are people out there who make a habit of spamming obscure categories with their links, or creating spam-trap articles just so they can link out from them.

I got in mind a thought just opposite to you :

How High Wiki is, they do not accept our free and relevant sites.
Wiki is not a directory to accept all submissions :)

But Wikipedia is not a directory. That's one thing that's kind of undemocratic about it. They allow about 5 outbound links per article, but who gets to choose which 5? So you're more likely to get a link from them if you write on something totally obscure that hardly anyone else has even heard of.

Seems there's a better chance of your quality, relevant, non-commercial links remaining if you're a registered user. Otherwise the changes are associated with an IP address - may look like an attempt to spam them.

I've added some very useful links on Wikipedia going to my website. They really were very good quality. For example, I have a good list of 50 AJAX tutorial that I added as a link to the AJAX page. However, it's removed every time I add it!

Other links I have put up, however, have remained. Right now I'm getting between 30-50 unique visitors a day from an unknown number of links at Wikipedia. My estimate would be I have around 10 links there.

It would make sense for Google to use links from Wikipedia in their rankings. After all, Wikipedia users are very critical of what websites get linked in articles.

Most of my links have remained and have given decent traffic 20+ a day. They are relevant, quality non-commercial links.

I have read comments on some high traffic topics which regularly have links posted for them, that the majority dislike having commercial sites linked, including monetized sites with adsense and ypn ads. That's been my experience anyway.

    Any other tricks?

wiki rocks. I've added several links successfully and others got deleted. Seems the more "inconspicuous", the more likely the link will stay under the radar of the wikipolice

You can add links anywhere you just need to use a bit of sense while placing a link. Only prob is just like anybody can add links, anyone can remove as well..
