Your minimum bid is based on your quality score, so if its very high, your bid can be very low. If it isn't it can't be like $0.01, it has to be more. Otherwise people would try to use thousands of random keywords just to get traffic, which google doesn't like.

I'm not sure about the credit card.

You can find the Quality Score by putting your cursor over the magnifying glass next to your keywords.

Yes - you can bid on other URL's - but you cannot use their name in your adverts if it is a trademark.

You then need to make sure you are bidding enough to appear - i.e. meeting the first page bid if there are not many other bidders.

Be careful though - in my experience, when bidding on competitor names, users rarely choose your advert over the one they were looking for and so quality score drops. You may then find that your minimum first page bid begins to go up.

I use to start my bids with $0.10, then lower or raise it according the needs.

Hey, don't forget to use Adwords editor to manage your account.
The editor will help you get a better view of your account.

You can raise and lower your bid quicker compared to do it online with the Adwords online interfact.

    My 2 cents

it sounds like you're asking "how do i bid on trademarked terms" because "no one else is showing ads for them." is that correct? if so, there is a reason no ads are showing for those terms. merchants are allowed to block advertisers from using or bidding on their trademark terms. it's difficult to get approved for those types of ads, and can also be risky to your account.

if this isn't the case, and you're just looking to bid on low-volume keywords that people aren't searching for (thus the keywords "no one else is using") then you probably won't get any clicks. hope this is helpful.

I study my competition and I know they don't know anything about Adwords/AdSense so I know what I'm doing.

    Thanks for the input though

Also part of quality score is ctr. If you are bidding low your ads will not be seen= low ctr. It can be a vicious circle. Best to find the sweet spot. The right position for your ads. Analytics is great for that.

if search volume is way too low on the bidded keyword, your ad will not display. and yes, most prepaid credit cards will work as they work like a normal credit card.

If you are trying to bid on keywords no one else is bidding, chances are the keywords are profitable. If you want to bid on the URL of a well known site, try it out and see how the traffic will be like. Put it to test.
