anywhere to get free privtae domain name registration guys?

Hi guys, just have a quick question.

i normally buy my domain names from godaddy and i notice that the cost of keeping your domin registration private is $9 per year which seems quite expensive to me as the domain names themselves cost the same.

does anybody know anywhere that offers free private domain registration?
