I always thought Shawn was going to add relevent ad selection to the coop at one point? Anyways I removed the coop from 1 of my sites that brings me a lot of money (dropped 3 pages) and see if I can return to page 1 like I was. I did notice on my MS support forum that when I removed the coop on there indexed page count increased and my other forums just sit about the same.

I think Google is just detecting the image used to track impressions.

Google could if it wanted to use this as a method of detecting sites in the COOP, however I don't think it does this or needs to. Its easy for google to detect link networks via alogrithm - its long been known that interlinking your own sites can be detected (and occasionally penilised), so link networks like LV and COOP are exactly the same thing just done on a grand scale.

If you read my posts I don't believe it is a specific targetting of COOP, but a targetting of all link networking that "can" or previously did artificially manipulate googles SERP's

That would essentially make it a contextual ad network - which would possibly put it in conflict with the T&C's of adsense - IE you can't run adsense on the same page other contextural ads. A lot of webmasters would not like that.

I don't believe it's a Google problem, rather a message they are sending out that leaves no room for interpretation. When I say things like this I mean no harm to Shawn and the hard work he has put in here. DP has always been my fav to visit simple because of its diversed knowledge base. That in mind I feel changes are essential to ALL networks of this nature. I think, if the COOP section of DP wants to leap forward major changes (like SE's make) are required. These changes start with 1 thing...calling a spade a spade (like Google has) and move forward keeping that in mind, IMHO :).

    Respectfully,

I just dont get one thing... Keyword spamming still rocks Googles socks for some terms...

Anyway, Coop is working great on MSN and Yahoo!, just dont put excessive weight on your links or you could raise some red flags...

Just curious why it matters if they are banned or not? It really has nothing to do with becoming a member. Once the code is installed in runs without detection unless you do something really stupid.

If you think that Google will punish those using synthetic link schemes you are now busted because some members make the text file containing other members spiderable .

I don't think an instant link blitz, say 5000 links, is good for a site. It doesn't look natural.

On a new site it would get penalties. On an estabished site it should be OK .. but it's something that looks like search engine manipulation.
