A Better Dofollow Search Engine for Building Backlinks

I've been working on a search engine that shows whether or not the results have the nofollow tag. It is:

    Followtopia

    Here are the features
    1. It indexes the entire internet (not just a list of blogs).
    2. It is always up to date. (some other websites based on lists of blogs will return some pages that actually do have the nofollow tag, but they say it doesn't).
    2. It gives keyword suggestions based on each website returned.
    3. It shows how many backlinks each result and domain have.
    4. Of course, it shows whether the results have nofollow or not.

The biggest problem with it so far is that it is a little slow, but it is faster than opening result pages and looking for the nofollow tag.

I was using it to promote some of my websites, and decided to make a site out of it. Hope it helps you find some relevant backlinks for your sites.

I made some tips for how to use it to find blogs, but I probably haven't found all the best ways to search. Let me know if you have better ideas on how to find pages to get backlinks.

I noticed it cited a blog that used

    rel='external nofollow'

    Code (markup):
You might look into that. But it is extremely useful!

Can you give me the search you used, or the page it found? It does have nofollow pages in the results, but it tells you they are nofollow before you click on them. Was this a page that it said was nofollow?

Very cool tool. I'm curious what is your search engine built on? Does the ranking system mimic one of the major search engines?

I did see one problem with your SE. It appears to call all sites dofollow as long as it doesn't have the nofollow attribute embedded in the code. (I'm guessing that's how it determines it...) However this causes many sites to be listed as "dofollow" that don't allow comments. Just because it doesn't have a nofollow attribute doesn't been its a good site.

For example I searched "forex" and none of the top 9 results allowed me to leave a backlink.

I did a couple other searches with similar results.

This is a very great point. A result in this search engine does not mean you will be able to leave a comment or link on the page. It only tells you that the page found does not currently have nofollow. There is no automatic blog search (although maybe I can add that later). That is why I also included some tips on how to use it to find blogs. I didn't want to assume that people would only search for blogs. Also, just because a site doesn't have nofollow on it currently doesn't mean it won't add it to your link. If a site has no comments thus far then it may add nofollow to your comment. If you want blogs the best way I have come up with thus far is to add:

search terms comments -"0 comments" -"no comments" -"comments (0)" -intitle:comments

to the end of your search. But there may be better addons depending on what you are searching for. If you come up with any good ones, let me know, and I will add them to the blog.

I did it this way so users kind find more than just blogs to post backlinks. For instance a user could find directories or wikis or even websites where they would email the author of the site and ask for a link. Also some users may look for places for trackbacks or linkbacks, or whatever. Hopefully over the next few months (through playing with the site) I'll come up with some even better ways to use it, and post them to the blog. Eventually I'll make a faq out of the tips. After that maybe I can add buttons for comment search addons or something.

Let me know what you would like to see.

As for the search technology it of course uses google's pigeon rank. :D

Wow.. I just check "money" in your search engine and it comes with 192million+ of search results. Is it all dofollow? I mean, is this something like google custom search where you input dofollow blogs in? I'm still new to this, hope you could clear my doubts.

This is not a google custom search engine that only searches a list a blogs. It searches the whole internet. For each of the results it will tell you whether the page has the nofollow tag on it (so you don't have to open the source code).

As for finding blogs, you have to add to your search query things that a commonly found on blogs. I made a guide of suggested ways to find do follow blogs, but you can come up with your own ways too.

Basically the idea of the site is just to save people from having to open the source code of search results to find nofollow tags. In addition I added keyword suggestion and a backlink checker. It's all stuff I find helpful for seo.

It does have a large index, and there were blogs in there, but you have to get a little creative to narrow down the results to just the blogs on your subject. For instance if you are interested in beer pong (which I can see you are from your link), then this search phrase seems to yield a higher percentage of blogs.

beer pong "comments" "comment" url name email -"no comments" -"0 comments" -"comments (0)" -"read more" -intitle:posts

You can change things up and get different results as you go. Just look for common blog phrases.

If you wanted to find wikis with beer pong there are lots of pages, but not many do follow when you search this way:

    beer pong wiki edit

You get a higher percentage of do follow, but less pages this way:

    beer pong intitle:wiki edit

If you want to try for directories then you could try this:

    beer pong free "add url"

Or you could change that phrase to "submit site" or "add site" or whatever you see on directories.

You can search for whatever type of site you want. Just put in the keywords to find that type of site. Good luck hunting for relevant backlinks.

I tried using this search engine to find social networking sites that don't use "nofollow" and I tested it out with Delicious.com, b/c I know that any link you bookmark there is a "nofollow", but it came back on your site as a "follow me". So I'm guessing your site can't help me if I'm trying to find out if the links I'm going to post on the social site is a nofollow?

No. It says on the results whether that page has the do follow tag or not.

This is a good one. I'm not sure why it isn't catching the tag for delicious. I will try to fix it. That should not happen. Thank you for telling me. I'll let you know when I have that fixed.

It looks like our web development team got this problem fixed. Now delicious is properly identified as nofollow. This should also fix other mis-identification problems. Thanks again for pointing this problem out. Let me know if you see any other similar problems or if you would like to see any other features.:)
