Start Thinking - Start working on your Site - Get Traffic Today

    Hey Guys,

    I am sooo sick of the same questions here :

    A) How do I get traffic.
    B) No one visits my site.
    C) How do I get links.
    D) What's the easiest way to make money.

    and these are just a handful of the persistent questions, and the answer is - if you are asking these questions then you are either new or simply have no idea and are doomed to failure already ....

    Just look at the popular eBooks and threads here "Make easy money" "make $500 a day" etc. These are titled to sell and the majority suck balls and are re-written 100s of times on DP and resold over and over again - yet they always sell ....

    There is no easy way to make money, there's is no easy way to get traffic, there is no easy way to get quality links .... are you following me ?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    OK now let me begin :
    A) Select a theme or topic of your site.
    Now some people fail straight away here, they either jump on a said high click value niche like "Forex" or start a blog / site about uncle bobs ant farm .... or they grab a niche and go from there - not always a mistake.
    My advice is start off being very general, screw the niche preaches, a blog can have categories and tags, these can be your niches, my favorite niche is "Popular News" - yes popular news ....
    B) Do a little research, I don't mean find out what pays the highest per click, find out what is popular right now - yes right now and not 3 years ago. There are several web sites that you are visiting all the time that have "Hot Topics" .... personally I use Google/Trends - http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends - more on that later.
    C) Now time to get content, browse trends and find out what others are writing, re-word the content, re-write the content, write your own content - the key here is to create as much and many posts / pages that you can and churn out a lot of content daily.
    D) OK promote the content, again this is where many web masters go wrong, it makes me sick when people encourage others to spam and build links - you really don't need to. Just a Digg, a Stumble, a Flurl will do just fine ....
    Wordpress is best :
    E) OK I mentioned Google/Trends this is a excellent source for topics, grab some search terms and start writing about it - that simple, I use wordpress - so in each post I tag the post with associated search terms that are listed in Google trends.
    F) Call the post exactly the same as Google/Trends search term, move the keywords / tags in the template file to the top of each post - excellent move for Google SEO - as these tags are always used in Google search engine .... generally the first line of text in your post is used and this is the tags and they are directly related to the post.
    G) Now as traffic starts to come in, make sure that you measure it and can track what people are searching for - what searches you are doing well in Google for and then expand on those search terms - create more posts and use the same tags as the original .... I may have Google Rocks my Site as the post and people are searching for Google Rocks my Blog - so I will create a new post called Google Rocks my Blog.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I could keep on going but I wont ....

    Remember these tips though:

    Stop spending so much time on other sites promoting your own, start spending more time on your site creating content.

    95% of your time should be spent on your site and not 95% of your time on other sites promoting your site.

    Please post a sequel.

    What should they do once they get some traffic? What came first the chicken or the egg?

    Yeah I will, and I personally do this daily on my site, I literally - every hour - go to Google/Trends and I find the long tail search terms, stuff like "Britney Spears Song" is short tail and "Britney Spears Loves THSADMIN" is long tail - and in this case there's very little competition for the search term and given that your blog / site has some authority - you could dominate that search literally within 10 minutes .... and there you go you have a lot of visitors.

    Now rinse and repeat, look for the next long tail search term, just click on more google results (on Google trends) to see the amount of results and competition.

    it really is very easy .... just takes some work and a little blogging .... I use grey hat and white hat techniques.

    Well obviously Adsense within your page helps .... but effectively placing ad's is another topic.

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    The common responses that I get are these :
    "Yeah but Google Trends has no search terms that relate to my site" - my response is this : so you are telling me out of the 100 search terms - you can not relate to any ? .... then you need to re-consider your sites topic and become more flexible.
    "My site is about making my penis big and erect - can you get me traffic" - no, if you are going to get into an industry that you don't understand - then don't get into it, before you choose a topic for your site - you must know how to market it.
    Good post, I agree many newbies always ask the same questions. In my
    honest opinion I think that there should be another part of the forum dedicated
    to newbies and create stickies of threads so that newbies can look over instead
    of the same questions being put up over n over.
    Anyone agree.
    I agree but i dont believe it applys to all sites. At first a forum needs your time spent on it but after a bit no one is going to join if you are doing 95% of the posting so on forums i think it changes depending on the stage in its growth.
    Yeah it can vary, but the principal is very important, what I am seeing at DP all the time is "I have spent 5-10 hours building links - but I still have no traffic" .... so many people are on MySpace trying to get friends, on Youtube spamming videos, on forums trying to inflate posts,
    then (the one I hate) writing articles for hours a day and submitting them to directories - then you see their own site is blank with very little content - imagine if all those articles were on their own sites ....
    It's hard to generalize all sites, but the general principal is the same.
    Great post.
    I bet, there will be another thread not too late, asking "how do I get traffic" or "how should I make money, I started my website yesterday"
    Thanks for the great pointers though.
    Yeah, there always will be, I guess with out the simple questions this forum would never grow, so in a sense this forum does depend on these questions.
    But I am just trying to point a few (the ones that read this) to a solid start :
    Blog (wordpress).
    Content (from Google Trends).
    Submit to Digg etc.
    And repeat - in short that's how I have done it many times, obviously it's a bit harder than that, but i have dropped some tips in above if you look closely .... I have sold many eBooks that go into detail with this same concept.
    Let's all remember...every one reading this post was a "newbie" at some point. One of the main ingredients newbie's don't realize is the fact that it takes time to buidl a solid business online...one that can last for years...it takes time.
    I agree it's better to submit articles at your own sites than at other sites. I know this so well, because i checked it many times already.
