Will Cuil Kill Google? Where will Cuil be in a year? - Pridictions

I saw a chart, it's market share died very quickly after the initial press, it's probably not even in the top 50 search engines any more.

Yeah. Cuil is unused now and having "trafinomic" problems.

 

I think the above says it all......

 

I think cuil is a load of rubbish, the layout of the results is horrible and they have totally the wrong idea when it comes to search, it is not about how many pages you have indexed, it is about being able to rank them in such a way that the best quality websites are given more value in the search results.

 

I never heard of Cuil.

As far as I know, Google is the best search engine and noone can compete because of it's accuracy etc, Cuil looks like a weird experiment, the only Search Engien that could compete with Google is something really revolutionary.

 

I was doing some research on alexa the other day and decided to do some on cuil,what i saw was unbelievable,at one point of time cuil had a traffic rank of almost 150,beating digg.i think it was sometime when the news of cuil broke out,this comes as a shocker as today cuil has a rank of 8000 odd.
Personally i think gigablast is a better indexer.

 

its a garbage search engine, i can't beleive its even lasted this long, its complete and utter trash.

 

Well, maybe if they used another domain other than "Cuil.com".

 

I agree with you Google is a giant in WWW world .. No way some newbie can kill it.

 

Google is way to big for any search engine to beat it yet! We forget webmasters = less than %1 of Internet Users so even if there is one great search engine better than google, only 1% of use would use it because the reamining 99% of internet users will only ever use google/yahoo/msn and a few others!

 

I am really surprised they haven't learned that white text on a black background is a no no (on the home page). Cuil in my experience has been probably the worst search experience ever for me, jokingly. I hate to say it but I think it will disappear with time not grow with time..

 

to me the cuil search page is great but i dont realy like the results pages

 

stupidest cuz they don't even show my website after I clicked on the 10th page..gave up after that..

GOOGLE, YAHOO, MSN..ETC

all have my site as NUMBER 1 with the search word i use..

I havent heard anything from it in a while, so I don't think it is picking up

 

cuil is no where close to google. Google just has pretty much all the audience. Everytime you ask someone something and neither of you know the answer the reply is alway google it. Thats how widley its used. For the past year or 2 i havent heard anyone mention yahoo at all person to person and the only reason i hear msn is becauase of msn messenger and hotmail.

Conclution: Google has taken over everyone and its just really hard for other search engines to take over the people now. Once you get use to something you keep doing it, google is pretty much just hard wired into everyones brains.

 

While it is very possible someone can take a bite out of Google (or even pass it within a decade or so), Cuil will NOT be it.

 

One question that came to mind was does Quil have 10 times more, but did their computers spend 10 times longer to reach that benchmark?

I just toyed with it for the first time. It does not fit my style at all. But I can imagine some people liking that layout.

It looks like they are after a niche.

Sort of comparable to knowing you can only win 2 million in a lawsuit, so you file for 80 million, and walk away with 3 million in the end.

 

Imo we shoudn't worry about the layout ... it's just different from what we are used to (some like it others don't) and remember how Google looked when they started compared to Altavista ...
the more troublesome though is the relevance of results (or lack of for the time being )
