Pumping articles out to directory sites not worth it anymore

I say that because you earn some short term traffic, MAYBE compete for a keyword with the article, probably not.

I'm turned off because I submitted over a hundred articles, all of which I wrote from scratch and all point back to the same site, and Google only gives me a small fraction of those as links when I check my site.

Anyone else have a similar experience? Someone told me Google is analing up on article traffic, I don't understand seeing as I wrote each one from scratch, but apparently they're not unique enough? I'm pretty not happy about it, considering everyone always had said in the last year or so that that stuff works, albeit slowly, but still works.

Eh thoughts of what to do?

Thanks guys, I know you're all in the trenches with me.

Why give your content away? Add it to your own site then you have 100% control over it.

Are you submitting the same article to hundreds of article directories or making them all unique?

Hmmmm...it seems Google is always making our lives miserable. What about the other search engines....are your links appearing there?

If you wrote your articles from scratch keep the majority of them on your sites. Also don't submit the same articles all over the place. Articles have always been a good way to supplement a good campaign. Try new things, but don't give up.

The old way of syndicating articles certainly doesn't work, especially not with Google. Stick to the top article directories in your category and make sure the articles are good, quality content, not just rehashed garbage. Put your best article content on your own site, but make sure that the articles your syndicating are solid. If not, nobody will link to them, which is the whole point.

I made the mistake of pointing 140 articles at my PR3, 2 year old site that was getting a few hundred uniques a day. As of the last PR update, I am at a PR2 and my traffic has dropped like a stone. How does that happen with 140 brand new inbound links from Ezinearticles? Some of the articles actually have their own pagerank (anywhere from 0-4) at Ezine.

I'm convinced that I have trashed my site and I am being punished for having so many links coming from one source. Google likes you to have links fom multiple sources I think. I am now trying to fix this by submitting to Buzzle and Goarticles.

Btw, the articles were 100% original, handwritten submissions.
