    Use Paypal

Buy from members that have good (and recent) feedback. Look at how large their previous transactions were.

Research the domain - Whois search - if it's a bulk lot, make sure all owners are the same

Make sure that the registrar, expiration, etc, matches the listing and the Whois information

Contact the Whois email or phone number to make sure that the domain is really for sale if it's worth the energy.

Pay for domaintools.com to see the Whois history and see if the Whois has recently changed or not. If it has and is worth your time, contact the previous owner.

    ...and most importantly: COMMON SENSE!!!

I totally agree with you Sunhunter and I can tell you from personal experience that it's not easy to sell DN's on eBay if you are a newbie in selling names.

ebay is not safe, I made some good purchases but there are really high risks, I'll give you a real example I bought a domain from a seller who has 100% positive feedback, I paid it immediately but I haven't recieved my domain, he told me some acceptable refuses, nearly 50 days past, I opened a dispute on paypal and waiting, for buying domain you should try dnforum you can find better offers than ebay sometimes ;)

I've bought a couple of domains from people with high feedback points.
From one of the new sellers I didn't got the domains I've paid for, but after some time got the full refund from Paypal.

i have no problem using eBay. They as well as paypal offer more protection for non tangible items than they did in the past. Just deal with individuals who have more of a history instead of someone with 3 points of feedback

It wouldn't be a bad idea to maybe check out the site and see also if it is listed in google index or if the domain has been banned in the search engines from previous black hat seo techniques before investing in a domain.

To be honest i would use ebay at all with domain names, stick to the trusted sites that speacialise in domain name selling, using escrow as well is the safest way to pay. Although a lot of names do change hands on domain forums, using the trading rating system helps. :)

Do your research. Even if the seller has a 100% positive feedback rating, did they ever sell a domain before? If so, read the feedback other users left when buying a domain. If the seller with the flawless feedback usually auctions garden tools and has never auctioned a domain, I would proceed with extreme caution or not at all.
