Along the same lines, the History channel is showing an Iran-Iraq show now that is very enlightening. I had almost completely forgotten about Kohmeni since that all happened when I was very young. It's very surprising to see a pre-Islamic Fundamentalist Iran. Just as surprising as seeing a pre-Islamic Funamentalist Afghanistan.

I look at those countries and I see nothing but a society broken down because their governments were simply unable to govern - which is exactly where Iraq would be headed without the U.S. involvement there. I never wanted the US to go into Iraq, but the argument that we should not leave until the job is over holds more water than a lot of people give credit for. Even if the Iraqi people don't want us there, which is debatable, they need us there for the long term. The fact that Bush and company have been so steel willed about our military presence in Iraq shows that they have a very strong historical perspective. We can't stay there forever, but at the same time all is lost if a government is put in place that will topple within a decade.

Most of the country thought we'd win the war in a couple of months at the long side, and be out of there within a year or two. That's simply because they were not listening to our President and his administration.

Realistically as well, Saddam was going to give way to one of his sons near term - and that was something that had to be avoided. If not, Iraq was an ideal target for a military takeover. WMDs and terrorism were convenient excuses.

It's easy to say "Fire your congressman", and while I agree that is what should happen nearly accross the board for various reasons, the alternative candidates that are placed before us do not make it an easy thing to do. It's not like the Democratic party has been the voice of reason for the last 8 years while the Republican party has been nothing but corrupt liars. Corruption is a problem that crosses party lines. Congress has increased spending in the last 30 years or more - regardless of who is in power.

Demand more of your government. Participate at the local and national level. Apathy and complaints will get you more of the same. The day that more people see that it's realistic to make a difference is the day that we get better candidates to vote for.

Been there, done that. Back when you were in diapers. US Army, seven years. And you? Which jihad movement do you belong to?

And you are incorrect, one must not serve their country in the Armed Forces to be patriotic.

i agree, but when your govenment is planning on throwing out your constitution, the constitution clearly states you must go to arms to stop this.

but jihad? there is no such thing. who is invading who? who has killed over 30,000 civilians in the last 4 years, jihad? more like freedom fighters

but oh well, can't beat the US. I love going to the supermarket everday and mcdonalds and saying to myself, this is really what life is all about

keep on fighting, the US will prevail until we have world government, controlling us like non human robots.

its been fun, but i think sleep and the death in my sleep is better than this never ending debate.

the sad part is, you still focus your thoughts on one political party against the other, when in reality there are no political parties, and before we know it, we are in our death beds with only a quick glimpse of life, which didn't mean a thing. Enjoy!

Hey guys be neutral and look at the facts.
It doesn't help anything if you bring in your political motives or whatsoever.

Yoyo would even say that these weapons were planted by the CIA.
So, please stay with the facts and facts and facts ...

Thanks Gtech for that info, I haven't seen it elsewhere yet.

I agree moneyspeaks, but the beauty of the constitution and our nation is that the interpretation can change over time. That's why we have three branches of government with a system of checks and balances in place.

The same things were being spread around when Roosevelt was in power, and all he did was lead us out of one of the bleakest times in our nation's history.

The Patriot Act and the current congress' behavior in general has been the largest attack on personal freedom this country has ever seen. At times it seems that we are headed directly into a 1984 society.

Thinking along these lines - what is the government to do - completely ignore technological advancements? Surveillance programs and evil plots will come and go, but the resulting technology leads to things like the internet. Many people hate pornography and video games, but these industries are also responsible for many technical advancements that would not be possible without the serious investment in money and energy the leaders of those industries have made. Again - terrorism is an excuse, but if it wasn't 911, it would be a crack down on Drug Lords or something else that would have led to what I believe is overzealous and impractical surveillance. 10 years from now, we'll have more widespread use of the technology which can bring us better AI, data processing at speeds we can't even imagine, and I'm sure many other things. And at that point, people will still be complaining about what's going on in Washington.

There are people who need to be kept in check, but for the most part and especially at local levels, government leaders lead with good intentions. The best way to make a difference is to get involved and if you do that by messageboarding it's best to inspire thinking and to help stop propogandic thinking. Making phone calls and sending emails to the offices of politicians only takes a few minutes a month, but it can make a huge difference. It's disturbing how many people just don't do it, don't vote, and then wonder why legislation like the Patriot Act gets renewed. Barbara Boxer doesn't read Digital Point, but she does get briefed on the communication sent directly to her office.

If we can't make the leap of faith that our government in it's most basic state is Good Intentioned, then I agree that it is time to take up arms. But I for one still have faith (though at times it has been shaken), and believe that other options - protest, participation, education are still much more viable and effective.

I may be a little confused. Which country has the most WMD? Which country has the most nukes? Do any othr countries have a right to invade that country to eliminate a perceived threat?

The US has fought over 192 wars in its existence more than any other nation in history. What does that say about US?

As recently as last month, Donald Rumsfeld was not able to answer questions about why we haven't found weapons. If the original post is so solid, then why is the current administration failing to tell us about it.

If this story were as important as you want it to be, it would not be difficult for the Bush administration to call Fox and make it news.

Source? Saying it doesn't make it so. If the word is out, how is it failing? Just beause liberal media outlets do not want to cover the story because it doesn't fit their agenda of "blame America first, for everything," doesn't mean the story isn't out.

Actually, unlike some of the liberal media who have blacklisted the story because it doesn't fit their agenda of "blame America first," Fox is covering it.

Some left-leaners will ignore this as a pure lie; which essentially makes a big assertion about our military. Needless to say, I continually give the military the benefit of the doubt....I'd rather focus on the detail of the circumstance as though it's fact and remain neutral till this plays itself out.

I like it better when terrorists are taken away in handcuffs, and more wmd that the angry left always lies about is found. I love watching angry liberals blow their tops and try everything in their arsenal to change the subject.

Hatreds finest moment is such pure entertainment :D
