    Hello,

I offer people to sign up for a blog (http://blogleaf.com/) but lately one bot keeps registering new user accounts on the website and I can't seem to stop it because it keeps creating accounts even though I have CAPTCHA installed!?

What should I do? I've disabled creating new accounts for now...

    Regards.

They have to get the password from their email so I'm even wondering how they could automate that...

And he is using a huge amount of different email adresses and i don't think I can block an IP with WPMU!

    I don't know what to do :-D!

    Regards.

Tearabite has a good idea. Worst case I would do a search on Wordpress forum. I'm positive that your not the only one.

since i implemented the combination of BB+Akisment, my spam problem went away.. I now allow unmoderated comments, with virtually zero spam.
The only thing that can make it thru are 'old fashioned' spammers - humans, doing it by hand.. and there aren't many of those..

I'm using recaptcha right now and the bot can "read" the text. And Tearabite, I'm looking for a plugin to disable spam registrations on my WPMU blog, not just comments ;). Thanks for your post anyway, I'm sure it could be very usefull for other visitors ;)!

    Regards.

Instead of captcha ask a question like 1+1=? That reduces a lot of spam. It's simple and more effective than captcha.

Badbehavior will also stop sign-up bots.. I highly suggest you look into it..
Are you able to block that bot in HTACCESS ?
