How specialized should my website be ??

I'm wondering if it would be better for me to have a specialized website than a general website. I want to start a website about video games. So should I go for ''Video Games'' in general, ''First Person Shooter'' or ''Online First Person Shooter'' ?? Do you think it would be easier to get traffic with video games, or should I go more specialized to avoid a too big competition with other website ??

    THX for you help !!

The rule of niche is not practical to use for arcade type of site due to the nature of gamer.
From the gamer point of view, they will only go to the site that have variety of game coz they have better selection of game.

That is very true, if you want to specialie in something then dont do a game website. However to be a bit unique you can have a script that recommends relevant games on your site according to the game the person is playing. Rather than just having game catergories like sports etc

start narrow and broaden as you get more people. Start to broad and you will struggle to get people.

The other reason starting small is good is because when people come to your site you can offer them updates but if you give them everything form the start then itll seem old and not fresh so visitors will leave.

Well if you do everything, you won't be able to compete with sites that are focused. Go for one category and you'll have a much higher chance of success.

Rather than category, you can start your specialized bu consider targeted keyword, it could be your niche. Try to find what keyword with high search but low competition. Analyzing first before developing is very important to make your have a clear objection and destination.
