Hi there guys, I have launched my arcade about 1 week ago and the amount of traffic is really worth writing home about! I want to make my arcade go viral I.e getting thousands of visitors. I know getting to the front of digg would do this but i dont know how. SO my question is how did you make your arcade go viral? Thanks HydroJohn
Well there are two types of viral traffic: natural and artificial. Natural viral traffic comes almost always as a result of a WOM about a great site with new and innovative features. If your site is unique and very well set up then viral traffic should happen naturally. However, many websites are just not good enough to get viral traffic naturally. If this is the case then you need to create it artificially. I.E: Pay for digg services, Get the word out through relevant forums, etc.
I would advise you to have it in multiple languages (ok, I'm selling myself here, but the cost of internationalisation is less expensive when the site is still relatively small). You can reach easily a different population by adding a new language. You could try to post videos of the games you propose, check the videogames tube sites for instance. Your game-related blogs should bring you traffic too. Good luck anyway, there's a lot of competition on this market. By the way, I don't know if they allow people to publish their games, but gamedesign.jp offer really interesting games.
Get a unique addictive game designed specially for your site. If you got the money, promotion is not a problem.
