I already have a web host, Hostgator, and currently hosting my site (see sig). This day, I decided to buy another domain but from GoDaddy (before I use Hostgator directly, I think they're using RegistryRocket). Can I transfer immediately the domain to Hostgator? Even though GoDaddy has a free web host for new users (for three months only), I think I'm more familiar with Hostgator's cpanel, etc. I think I made a mistake. Should have registered directly again with Hostgator/RegistryRocket. Oh well. If I transfer the domain would I have additional fees? Do I need to wait for a certain amount of days before I can transfer? Please help. Thank you. Pat
Hi Pat, there is no additional fee to host the domain you registered with godaddy on your hostgator plan. All you have to do is login to your hostgator cpanel and find your hostgator nameservers e.g. ns1331.hostgator.com and ns1332.hostgator.com. Then sign into your godaddy account and change the nameservers for the domain you want to host on hostgator to the hostgator nameservers. Last you need to create an add-on domain in your hostgator cpanel for the domain. I've created a guide with screenshots too
Afer hosting with the domain name just do only change the name serves in domain name control pane and wait until 24 hrs the site will be pointed to new host.
So if u have not purchased any xtra hosting package at Godaddy...u don't loose anything Hosting all ur sites in hostgator
just change the name servers and you will be fine dude. no need to transfer the domain..godaddy is the place to register new domains and host gator is the place for you to host them. at least for me..
