Hello DP, I own a blog which can be found at: http://www.sismediagroup.com/blog What the blog is about is we are a web development company and we give views and opioions from a Presidents/CEO's standpoint as well as we offer lessons, tutorials and types of different stuff to help users understand different aspects of things. What I am wandering is how can we get more readers and more traffic, we are getting bookmarked but don't seem to be getting any extra traffic. I am just looking for some help thanks in advance.
With blogs its always about the basics in my opinion. 1. make sure your template/theme is optimized for SEO 2. make sure you have a large list of resources to Ping with new entries (Google for lots of lists) 3. get comments, if you need to early on ask friends to comment on posts or even pay folks to comment on posts. Search Engines like to see blogs with active participation from readers, plus your blog should have an rss feed for comments too so its another entry point for traffic. 4. post often, at-least once per day, 2 to 3 times is better 5. post quality, if the content wouldn't bring you back as a reader it won't bring anyone else back either 6. ask readers for their opinions and views on your posts (begging for comments is okay) 7. ask readers to tell others about your blog (begging for word of mouth is okay too) 8. use social bookmarking, there are hundreds of bookmarking services out there, pick a few dozen and use a handful to bookmark every posting, mixing up which ones you use each time 9. use related Blog Carnivals to get expanded exposure and easy links for yourself None of that is Earth shattering or secret knowledge, its just fundamentals that work. Good luck!
Concentrate in increasing backings. Write a few articles about web development and submit them to ezinearticles, goarticles and other article directories. Keep the content fresh. Go to widgetbox.com and create widget from your rss feed (its simple) other people may use it in their sites. Good Luck
You have been writing only since Dec 22nd. It will take time, but you should do it because you enjoy it. Then, everything will eventually fall into place. Getting regular readers takes a lot of time and right now you are likely going to be relying on search engine traffic.
First off let me say thank you to everyone that has commented so far as I love to hear new things i can either do or thing i can improve on doing. But to River, i have a question. YOu said submit to ezinearticles, goarticles and stuff of that nature. You are talking about creating seperate articles correct? Not submitting the ones i write on my blog to these article directories correct?
Hi, I work for http://www.MilitiaDomains.com and we have a great program called Traffic Blazer. It has all the tools you need for search engine submission, google site map optimization, key word and meta tag optimization and a bunch more. It really is a great program.
You got to love spammers specially when they only have 1 post, and it is spamming their services instead of helping the thread they posted in.
You can also start a facebook account that basically promotes your blog I use it and get some regular readers I just announce everytime I add a new post then also you can ask them directly to comment on your blog just to help you out.
I have a blog that's about SEO, online advertising, ect. Every time I do a post, I go to my Linkedin profile and submit the article to every group that I'm a part of. Since my groups are all people interested in the topics that I write about, I get a at least 20-50 readers/post that I submit. Not bad just for one website. Also, I submit my articles to Digg.com because it's one of the best article sites in my opinion. Basically because it's got a really high page rank and it gives you links (it's a DoFollow). Most of the high-page-rank social article sites are 'No Follow', so I love Digg! If you've never submitted an article there before, just sign up and you can copy and paste the URL of the story (example: http://www.sismediagroup.com/blog/2009/01/html-lesson-2-meta-information/) and write a 2-4 sentence summary about what your article is about. I made a comment on one of your blog posts I liked your articles on HTML. I'm thinking of sending it to my mom b/c she's really old and I hate trying to explain HTML to her! lol.
You could increased you traffic by doing some: 1. book marking sites 2. guest posting 3. doing seo You could get lot of readers by updating your site frequently.
Well I am glad to hear that. We will be making more post about specific parts of HTML that will help her learn things as well through out January. So stick around and if there is something specific you would like to know let us know and we will be sure to make specific post on that.
my blog gives dofollow links so i get some traffic and i use moderated , spam filter to catch spammers this will give you good rank
Hello, Well my blog is "Do-Follow" as well and we use the same type of software, but we are not looking for the "Spammy" type of stuff on our blogs, we are looking to give our readers and followers useful information and to be able to come to our blog for good quality interaction between members and staff.
Scott has really given all the tips required for successful blogging. Thanks Scott One thing I would like to mention here is post you blog posts at regular intervals. Apart from quality of your blog, people will come regularly if you post new entries at regular intervals. Do not post 10 posts one day and then no post for next 7 days.. instead space them out ... Hope that helps, Anup
It's not always the popular view here, but I really can't stress enough how much patience and quality content will pay off for you in the end.
This is the first time I have read this thread but I am learning a lot from the above. I have a new blog and I geeting an icreasing number of vistors, but I see a few new things here Thanks guys
Yes you have to write different articles which are copyscape and passed and are not published till yet . Article directories always approve unique content . If you submit nice tips their than people will sure visit your site for more information .
Once again, thanks to everyone and all their great ideas, I really appreciate all the new information. Always looking to hear more responses. Thanks again all.
