I think you're being overly optimistic. Antivirus software can only pick up about 60% - 70% of current new threats - there's always a lag between virii development and deployment of AV detection. If you're lucky you get hit with older crapware and your AV can nail it as it exists in the definitions but there's always the chance of a newer threat being deployed on your computer.
