I prefer windows vista. Initially i used xp. But now i shifted to vista.
Vista is best for high configuration . Like 4 or 8gb ram ..

I really quite like Vista however my wife has found that a lot of her Genealogy Programs do not run on it and as we have spent many many $ on Genealogy stuff she simply uses another computer and leaves mine alone. ;)

If you like visual effect then no doubt vista is good, but its consumes more memory, process working in background. If you are happy with simple looks XP is the best choice. You can also take advantage with dual booting, means vista and xp on same pc. Work on your mood.

Have seen so many webmaster softwares help forums and messages saying this software and that wont work with Vista, and read many horror stories of problems...that even when I bought a new laptop recently- I went for one that had XP on it.

I don't need the hassle myself.

I'm a technical support representative , and we're actually getting a lot of connectivity issues from our callers running vista. Compatibility issues. Personally, I'm running xp at home since it's much simpler and doesn't use up a lot of computer resources. For a minimalist like me, vista looks like overly embellished. But I don't hate vista though.

    vista is the best OS.
Although people will argue that XP is better but Vista is much better in graphics, networking and every other computer aspect. So I would say go for Vista.

I can't stand Vista. I have had to reformat my hard drive twice since I got my new computer with Vista on it. The computer is only 6 months old.
