How "bad" is it to use DIV position to have your text on top of the source code?

    Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't text positioned higher in your HTML source code "worth" more than text that's say 100 lines down?

    Because of that thought, I've been placing my main content right after my opening BODY tag, but inside a DIV that I then position lower in the web page so visually it looks like the text is about 2/3 of the way down on the page but it's actually very high up in the source code.

    Is anyone else doing this? What are your thoughts about the ethics of doing this?

    if you can have the important content at the top of the source code that would be best

    what to have the search engine bots read what is important as soon as possible
