What is the best way to monetize a site with 1M visits and 3M+ page views?

Hello, I'm looking to buy a site that converts youtube videos and others to MP3 - It has close to 1M visits a month, more than 3 million page views a month and an Alexa of around 25,000 and so I wanted to know what would be the best way to monetize all that traffic and page views?

Realistically how much money can you make with 3 million page views and what should I do to maximize the revenue?

Also, should I be concerned if 50% of traffic is direct (40% is SE's, 10% referrals)? If yes, please explain why!

    thanks for your help guys!

That 1 million visits a month, that is unique visits? Because with 1 million unique IP addresses visiting your site monthly, you should be getting a LOT more then 3 million page views. I get 2.4 million page views with only 50,000 uniques monthly. You might want to ask the owner of the site for more traffic details before you buy the site. Something does not sound right.

Besides all of that, the amazon affiliate program might be good. When you send someone to amazon and they buy something you get a commission. With all of those visitors surely someone will buy a DVD or a video. Amazon also has an MP3 service were people can buy mp3's straight from amazon.

Example - If you are pulling a lot of simpsons or family guy videos from youtube, put banners next to the videos to buy the episodes from amazon.

Google adsense is another good program.

~kev~, to be exact, the site had 772,000 visits this past month with 381,000 unique visitors and 3,154,000 page views...

The Amazon affiliate idea sounds great, thanks!!

Don't they already have good-working ads on the site?

They told you that 40% of their traffic is from search engines?

So, 40% of 381,000 (if that is accurate) is roughly around 140,000? Broken down daily, roughly around 4,300.

    Uh-huh.

Um, I wouldn't jump so fast to buy this site yet.

Why don't you just gain full access to the site's traffic statistics? Any legitimate seller with a good amount of traffic will have zero problems providing detailed information to disclose to you.

And also ask them to provide the URL's to the search engine pages that have their site listed. :D

Ya gotta do your research before buying, cousin.

Hope it works out for you anyway.

It might not be a gold mine but it probably has potential. If the price is right it sounds like a good deal.

Thanks for your feedback guys!! I do have have access to Google Analytics so all the traffic numbers are from there... the site makes around $7K for the past few months and the seller wants $100K, but even though the numbers look good right now, I don't think two months of $7K revenue is sufficient enough to warrant that kind of valuation... plus the site is banned on Google AdSense...

    what do you think?

Even though that SE traffic is WAY off, if the rest of what he is saying is true, and it has been consistent for X number of months, I would say that is a good offer.

Maybe you are looking at just the $100,000??? You have to look beyond that. Break the numbers down: Let's say you clear $3,500 a month, around $900 a week. You take out, say, $2,000 a month, and have such a site paid off in less than 5 years.

Keep ypur present job, and make an additional $1,500 a month, minus the $2,000 to go towards the $100,000.

In my book, that is a good deal.

But, this is all contingent on you being able to keep the traffic flowing in, along with having good advertisers.

Do keep in mind, if you haven't already, that that site can dry up overtime, say, throughout the next six months, and you are stuck with a $100,000 site that cannot even produce, say, $1,000 a month.

Yes, it can happen that fast!

If you are not sure you have enough knowledge to keep the site going, and or if you do not know anybody who can do it for you who you can trust, you may want to think long and hard on this purchase.

Would you mind revealing the url?
