I have just finished writing some SEO tips for Yahoo. Hope it helps some of the people since there is very little content available on SEO for yahoo. To me, yahoo has been a very passive SE and I haven't seen any webmaster focusing primarily on Yahoo but still, its worth looking at it if you are looking for long term. Cheers
i agree we should work on yahoo and msn, as there is too much compition on google and also google is big time anti seo. Also we should all advice friends and people new to the internet to use msn and yahoo, help promote those engines as google has too much of the market share and seo pros will suffer a lot more in the future.
Google is not Anti SEO, their first priority is to keep value of search results. It don't care about whether SEO exists or not. If you can create high quality content then google will be more then happy to show it as top results. While preparing the article, I was surprised of so little content available on SEO for yahoo!
Nice article too bad I already knew all of that I would like to read the MSN (Live?) article as well when it's ready.
good article. i would add one thing to that which is RSS feed. yahoo is big on RSS feeds and if you dont have a feed on your site, then you should get one. its fairly simple to setup a feed just typing on notepad and saving as xml format or you can use a feed generator. once the feed is created, login to your my yahoo and add the feed there. trust me - its HELPS BIG TIME
Great share, sultanofseo! I'm going to try this on some sites which are not blogs and see how it goes. Just one question - do I need to update the RSS from time to time or it's enough just to have a RSS feed?
Why SEO for Yahoo when you need to do it first for Google. Some of these Yahoo ideas might not work very well on Google. And from a SEO standpoint, who is more important Google or Yahoo?
Good article. I know that stuff already too, but it should be helpful to anyone who has problems getting Yahoo rankings. Even though Google gets far more traffic, it is definitely worth optimizing for Yahoo too. That way you are not just relying on one search engine that can one day change its algorithm and drop your rankings. I personally didn't see any techniques in that list that Google wouldn't like. catanich everybody knows that Google is more important than Yahoo, but it doesn't mean that Yahoo traffic is garbage. It is still high quality traffic that I would take any day.
No you don't have to update the RSS feed but have to update the site/content. RSS feeds are just that content only, albeit in a different standard format.
I agree with vansterdam. Even though Google is a more 'prominent' search engine, we certainly cannot discount our Yahoo! traffic. I value my Yahoo! traffic, even though it is less than our Google traffic (even though we have FAR higher rankings on Yahoo!). Consequently, I have never had to SEO any of our web sites to rank in Yahoo!. They all just appeared on their own through my efforts in SEO with Google in mind, and they came a lot more quickly too!
