What's With All the Banned Users Recently?

Why are there so many banned users recently? I go off for Christmas break, and come back 3 weeks later to find that a lot of people seem to be banned...

Have the rules gotten tighter, or are these people really sophisticated bots, or what? I don't really get it...but am curious to know why so that I and others can avoid such problems, and be able to point those who cause them out.

I know many of them were spammers (my pm box had a few in it)...outside of that...meh...?

We do not ban more or less. Members get banned when they break the rules.

Majority of them would be unaware of the posting rules in B/S/T section, and hence must be facing this punishment.

There may be various reasons.. like breaking rules, duplicate account, Infractions etc.
Only a mod may know the exact reason.

    Yeah, I've noticed too..

You follow a thread, and everyday you see banned posters in it.
One minute your talking to them, next RED NAME!

However, you can't blame the MODs, if you look through their posts - it's reasonable they've been banned.

Shocks me the most is the countless members getting banned that have less than 50 posts!
 breaking the rules, when they just get here..*tsk tsk*

Well problems with the less than 50 posts are that a lot of them are posting rubbish just to add up to enough posts to post in the BST. Frankly no choice but to clear those rubbish and issue them an infraction.

I just got the same situation this morning, I ask Member about his sales thread, minute later i got pop-up PM notification. I ignore the notification for another minute, and when i read the PM, he's banned.

When i ask him via email why he is banned, he admit that he have multiple account.

It's simply just because members can't obey the rules.

Very few scammers are banned. DP holds of a policy of not getting involved in trades. Most are for posting stuff like PM sent or Interested in the BST. Others are because of added up infractions such as misplaced threads, bumping, and duplicate threads.

However, it really depends on the moderators because the rules are not always followed the same by all moderators. Posts with "PM sent" and Interested" and personal attacks are posts that are suppose to be immediate bans but I have seen many of those deleted with no ban.

Basically, it boils down to be extra careful what you post or you could easily join the ranks of those sitting on the sidelines.

I doubt that. It was/is an innocent/honest inquiry.

If people are too ignorant or stupid to know the rules, they may as well eat the banhammer.

My bans have been from expressing my true opinions. Now I just lie or hold back to appease the draconian mods.

I do not think that mods needs appeasing. As long as you follow the rules, there is no fear of being ban unless what you are expressing contradicts our rules. But it is a free world you do not need to cater to the forum rules if you do not feel like it. There are a lot of forums out there.

Problem is, I have never in my life read an online "rule", I just check the box saying I did.
