I think that if you are good at SEO and writing (blogging) - everything will be good and you will earn from everything.

Talking about adult blogs - don't even start, I don't need more rivals. :D

Mainstream blogs are low risk and yeild results one way or another, where as Adult blogs are high risk and either yeild huge results, or they crash and burn.

Personally, I would be more interested in visiting an adult blog then some news or gossip blog. But, it all depends on the type and quality of the content.

Here's a few interesting facts that might make your decision easier.

The "adult" industry is down 22% over the last year and Larry Flint (Hustler) and Joe Francis (Girls Gone Wild) are planning on going to congress together to ask for a bailout. I kid you not. I watched a story on it today on a very respected news network. Also, word on the street is that Adult Friend Finder, or AFF, is running very low on cash and might be near the end.

    But...sex still sells.

    Good Luck,

    Hmm not necessarily high risk.

Basically you sign up for an affiliate system and promote their videos that they film and sell and you get a cut, doesn't seem like a risk to me :)

Adult Blogs are pretty good but you have to choose your niche carefully and promote it well as there are tons of adult blogs out there exactly with the same Niche that you're trying to promote - you need to be specific.

This counts for mainstream blogs too.

If you can't grasp the concept of affiliate marketing, it doesn't matter which. One is not easier than the other, it still requires hard work, and dedication.

They are both good on making money. The real problem lies on how well could you promote them. Try to know them first so that you may succeed.

Adult is not high risk, what a load of rubbish. Might sound good but its far from reality. Adult is perfectly legal so I don't see where the risk comes from.

With adult there are many avenues to take but the best performing are blogs so hits long term come from SEO, extremely low risk. I agree with Chancey, it depends on how you promote them.

However, adult has been hit harder than most recently due to recession. This is because many people are relying on expensive memberships and rebills. In the recession nobody wants to do this anymore. The same is happening in non-adult memberships too. Its just that many adult site are heavily biased into promoting paysite memberships.

So you have to do more cheaper offers, like $5.

OR get out of promoting paysites and get into webcams and other affiliate stuff. Promoting adult friend finder is always a good money spinner.

If you are new, stay out of general adult for now and get back into it in a year's time when you can lay a good foundation.

However, some sub-niches are doing really well. For example sex toy sales are up in the recession!

Well it's said that adult web site searches account for the highest percentage of all web search engines so they are a popular choice so you will possibly get a higher rate of response. And as for the risk factor we are not living in the dark ages and sex is no longer a big taboo, unless of course you are into the dark side of sex, but for general interests I think it is now ok.
And as for Larry Flint, the guys a genius at getting media interest, he's my idol l.o.l
