I have 3 seperate div layers, one on top of the other vertically. I am using each layer to put some content in, and i want to be able to set a background image for each layer and have it change when ever the mouse hovers over it without efecting the content within the boxes. I'm trying to get it to act as a CSS image swap on a menu. The image below is a fixed image. The top box on the right is the hover state and the two boxes below is the non0hover state. if anyone can help me out i will be greatful.

There are a couple of ways to attack the problem; how will the boxes be used? I'm assuming it will have text in it, but what will the content be? Is this meant to act as a menu, or as content containers? Depending on your reasoning, there are different ways to code it.

I mean to use each box simply as a content container maybe with a thumbnail image in it. I',m putting a menu above the top box and Im coding in CSS/XHTML. Im trying to avoid javascript or anything that IE5+ will block and give me the little activeX drop down thing. I hate that
