I’m back with a bad news to whom using pirated copy of Windows operating system. Finally, Microsoft has decided to put up a message on the login screen for every pirated Windows user.

Face the shame? Not sure about this but I suppose the anti-piracy message will be very annoying.
This anti-piracy message will appear after the next Windows update.
At the moment, only users of pirated Windows in the following five countries will experience this “new” and “special” feature, they are United States, Britain, New Zealand, Australia and Malaysia. Well, Windows with this “special” feature can still receive software update, but not allowed to upgrade Internet Explorer to version 7 and download Windows Defender.

I was just wondering, How many of us use a pirated windows?

True, but Microsoft could quite easily find out who the members are who admit!

How many people are using pirated Windows XP Home or Pro edition and not the Coorporate versions (that require no activation and sometimes no serial ) ? :)

Anyone having problems updating Windows (legit or non-legit) should check out www.windizupdate.com. You can update using Firefox instead of being forced to use IE, and also avoid certain updates you may not want.

    Good thinking!
May ppl dunno at the time of installation whether they're being issued the original copy or not!
Sad, but a very true fact!
They don't know whether they're using the original copy or not :(

And how many people buy a PC without an OEM version of windows and later install windows? - less than 1% of the PC market, I'd guess. How many people upgrade their operating system? very few. You have to remember that the vast majority of computer users are not techies.
That's highly likely, we've had arrests here where shops have been selling illegal copies as OEM. The customer was OK but the shop owners went to jail.

I firmly believe that if you can afford it, PAY FOR IT!
It's true that I too started like many others on pirated system, but right now I can proudly say I own licensed copies of WindowsXP, PS 7, MAcromedia Package 8 and FL Studio 5 :)
Gives you a great sense of satisfaction when you buy licenses!
And what's more, it teaches you to respect your software!

Most of my software is leagal but I do have the odd one that is a copy cos the genuine software is just way to expencive to buy, if it were priced reasonably I would buy the genuine version.

Windows is not exactly expencive so you might aswell get the genuine jobbie.

The ones that get me are the likes of Adobe Photoshop that charge £400 or Macromedia studios for £840.
