I've been noticing lately that Yahoo Directory listings are doing significantly better in search results on Yahoo search, so I went ahead and FINALLY submitted my main site through the express submission form.

Took only 24 hours for Yahoo search to restructure my listing with the new title and descrition fed by the directory....

I wonder how this will effect my search listings as my meta title is no longer the actual title?

instead of my target keywords in the title - it shows my company name as listed in yahoo directory....

I would guess that it shoouldn't matter much as if it did - they would probably get stuck with alot of complaints....

I should know for sure within a week or two..... I'll see how my sites progresses in natural search...

Unfortunately I have seen people complain about this (the title in the SERPs changing). Some people have actually tried to get removed from the directory so they get their Title back...

    Keep us informed.

So they give you 2 links for 300 bucks. I guess that is ok.

I signed up with them last week...and see the same thing. Everything I was ranked well for I still am. I dont check too many keywords there, so I have no sitewide data to offer.

There are also links on some of the international sites. India, Canada, and the UK

They will change you title if you ask them to. As long as it's relevant of course.

Crazy Rob, never heard of them changing the title - You mean they will change it in the directory if you ask? Where do you ask?

As far as ranking, I never heard of anyones rank being affected by the change of title. What changes is the amount of click throughs because the listing in the SERPs looks less relevant to the user.

I canotacted Yahoo and requested a title change. It took them a few weeks but they did it.

    Yep, it affects rankings too.

Rob- if you dont mind sharing --how descriptive were you able to make your title?
Obviously, this could really help me out. I already do ok in the serps for the name of my company.

ROAR- This was about two years ago.

They want your title to be your company's name. So I changed all of my logos and stuff for a few weeks. As soon as they notified me of the new title I switched them back.

    Example:
    Orig: Crazy Rob, Inc.
Revised: Crazy Rob Ninja Supplies, Inc.

I think it was worth it. ;)

I tried having Yahoo! change my title to reflect my current company for months with no luck. For real estate sites they use your name in the first part of the title and the company name that you are licensed with in the last half.

That is OK by me I guess, except I changed companies a few weeks after submitting to the directory.

It would be nice if there were provisions for expedited revisions in these instances inasmuch as it does create confusion when the surfer clicks on a link expecting on Agency, and landing on the site of another Agency.

As for how the title affects rankings, it appears to me to have Zero effect in Yahoo!, but the lack of anchor text would detract from the weight of the Yahoo! link in the other SEs.

    Just my 2¢ worth.

    I moved up from 19 - 16 for a very competitive keyword.....

So it looks like not having my keyword rich title hasn't mattered and it seems that the directory inclusion helped a bit....

    So far so good
