Hey guys, I'll start with saying, like everyone else here, you spend a lot of time making your website perfect for its launch, but unfortunately, you haven't advertised yet, so your site maybe be amazing but its not getting to people. Thats my problem. My website (Ace Of Tech) was just re-opened after a series of huge updates. Unfortunately, my site did not have a huge traffic base so when it re-opened yesterday, it was pretty bare. So I was wondering... how can I advertise, and get my site out there, because I'm so confident that if someone visits my site, they will be compelled to stay for more than 5 seconds. Any help? Rep to helpful replies! Cheers, Ben
Thanks for pointing me that direction. Not sure if its worth it, but its good to discover these other options.
I checked out your site which isnt bad. Firstly you need to change your title from Ace Of Tech - Welcome to the frontpage that turns people off straight away (particularly web savvy people such as the tech types ). Seems your site is a blog/forum on tech info. That being the case you need authority and you need word of mouth advertising. Your greatest weapon is your content so write something really controversial, usually making top 10 type list is a good start. Off the top of my head its a new year so you could have top 10 tech items of 2008 or the predicted top 10 of 2009. Get in contact with other tech blogs and do what you can to get mentioned there. It all comes down to individual sites and offers. Become authority in other tech forums and you will get a lot of quality targeted traffic that you can convert into continual visitors if your content quality is high. Publish some of your helpful tech tips in places where people can find them (ezines, related forums, guest blog post because if you can solve someones problem they will be likely to pay you a visit at the very least). Also when I visit your forum I cant get back to the main site. You should integrate the two sections for best result. As for your forum there is so much work neccessary to get one off the ground so I think you should try and build up traffic to your blog and then direct them to sign up in your forum. In addition try and get a whole bunch of mods for the forum to build content and activity within the forum. If all else fails start a very public sling match with a well known tech blog on a divisive subject. That should get you some coverage .
You could do amateur methods, like article marketing, posting on boards, or networks, but it will get you only a few visitors here and there, along with a high bounce rate, especially with posting on boards. *shrugs shoulders* I don't know, maybe you are content with that for now. If you want to do it the right way, start making some ads, and then get them critiqued. Ask family, friends, whomever for their input. Then get your site critiqued. If one or both are crap, you aren't going anywhere. Then start buying traffic, advertising on sites that you think its visitors may like. That's, basically, all there is to it. The more sites you advertise in, the more traffic you buy, the more hits you get. Pretty damn simple, if you think about it.
forum marketing is a great way of getting some initial interest. ....Oh and using a free banner exchange of course ;-)
I wasn't even aware thats what it said! That was the default from Joomla! I changed it to some pathetic slogan until I think of a better one. I was really thinking on doing some top 10 lists, so with your recommendations I'll try and get on that. This is a brilliant idea, but do you have any recommendations for tech forums I can post on? I was a little shaky about trying EzineArticles, but if its going to get me some traffic, I'm all for it. I'll work on linking them together. Even though they kind of are already. See, when you register on one side, you are automatically registered on the other side. Google RokBridge if your interested. Hopefully it doesn't ever get that bad, but I will consider it! Thanks for the great tips, rep added.
what you need is traffic and visitors. I found out about this site ,realtrafficsource.com, 4 months ago and they are amazing. My forums turned havoc after the first day I ordered one of their traffic packages. went from 15 posts and 6 members to 322 posts and 215 members after the first week. They aren't like the ordinary traffic retailers that trick people into visiting your site through redirected or forced traffic. They actually target traffic by a niche and find people interested in the material on your site. The site is not as appealing and their prices are moderatly high but their service is outstanding and works wonders for me. also saw through another forum that if you use the promotional code "webproworld" they will double whatever traffic package you order. and again they are realtrafficsource.com
I could only offer you to use a few simply methods like forum posting(with your site link in it's signature), submitting to the directories, use social bookmarking and other legal spam like advertising in forums which have a place for advertising or a place for website appraisals or something similar... That's all I can offer to you if you need a free advertising. If you are ready to spend some money for your site promotions, so use CPC advertising programs like adsense.
You can get fair amount of traffic if you start advertising on the sites that are similar to yours in the beginning
Start building links, spreading the word around. Depending on your budget, if you have any, doesnt hurt to use adwords, inlinks. For free traffic, try stumbleupon, digg, reddit, delicious, easysubmits.
Well this really all depends on your budget, and what type of traffic you are targeting. First off I would start with old standard SEO and link building. Getting some nice links back to your site will help when it comes to respective traffic as far as bounce rates. Next, if the money allows, I would get some articles and start with some article submissions and some social media marketing, this will start getting some nice direct traffic as well. Once you do this then you should start with viral marketing which will then help continued traffic. I hope this has helped, if you have any troubles or need more information please let me know.
