    Perhaps a picture's worth a thousand words?

    I have a homepage, and i'd like to show some freshly update topic links on that. So to save more efforts, i could just upload a .html page via FTP, and the uploaded page will be displayed on the homepage without doing anything on my homepage.

    May I know what is this coding called?

    You could do that using include files in either ASP, PHP, or using server-side includes.
