Would putting less adsense ads on your site generate more money per click?

    Hi

I have currently placed adsense ads in top, bottom and the sidebar section of my site http://60minutesobama.com/ but I was wondering whether placing too many ads would generate less money per click.

Could someone advise me on this please. Many Thanks

You can only put max of 3 except text links... no need to ask for more... you already have 3..

make one of those ads an image ad to reduce the total number of ads on the page. 1 ad unit has 3 or 4 ads, one image unit has just one ad. This way you are still maximizing the number of units on a page.

I've definitely seen a revenue increase in reducing the number of ads on any given page.

Thanks for your reply. I am a bit confused by what you mean by maximize the number of units on the page. Also how would I be able to make one of the ads an image add, I thought adsense automatically chooses the ads for you and one would not be able to choose whether they wish to have an image or text ad.

Having more ad slots actually increase the chance for low paying ads to appear. Sometimes it is more profitable to get a click that is worth 30 cents rather than 3 clicks and each worth 3 cents.

aactually i would consider both 30 cents and 3 cents a very low paying click.
Any ways, I recommend having only 2 units per page, you will get a decent rate

Thanks. How could I choose whether I want image ads or text ads to appear on my site?

It sort of depends, but if you blend in 3 ads I think it would be better than just 1 ad.

You can do like this add two image ads and one text ads format . By this you can increase your IMP too because many webmaster says that images ads give more page views . Only displaying less ads cant increase your earning every thing depends on geo targeting high bid ads .

I'll explain:) Imagine you have 3 ad blocks around your content and you have 10 advertisers for your targeted niche (my favorite type - extra extra targeted). Now, these advertisers are bent on selling their services or products and create multiple ads experimenting with different payouts. With a smaller number of ads, you get the ads with pay more because those are the ones which are displayed a lot more.
So, for targeted niches, it's better to have a lower number of ad blocks.

A site filled with too many ads won't find favor from the visitors and the extra ads will only help to distract the visitors rather than attract and hence restrict the number to the minimum possible which will also help to show the high paying ads in your niche...

Remember that the higher paying ads appear on the first ad unit that appears on the page. So if you have one on top second in sidebar and the third at the bottom , then the unit that will give you the best CPC will be the one at the top.

Less ads = more CPC and less CTR
More ads = Less CPC and More CTR

Hence, for me, it gets kind of compensated.

    But thats just me.
You have to experiment and come to your own conclusion.
My assumption is that there is no universal rule for this.
    All are site-specific.
    So do experiment.
Give at least a week for each phase of experiment.
