Rapidshare is extremely slow (upload speeds of 1kb per second with dial up) What are better and faster options that's free as a filehosting site?

If rapidshare is slow for you I assure the problem is on your end, not theirs.

I have to disagree. Rapidshare is very slow! I am downloading some things I just bought here. One site I download at 900K and rapidshare, well 35k at best! and then the daily limit.

    Rapidshare is crapshare!

Megaupload is faster than Rapidshare for me, but my favorite site is MediaFire.

Agreed, allows instant download as well :D

Megaupload is decent too, I prefer to use MediaFire whenever possible though.

Instant downloading is a great feature, though occasionally with MediaFire I get an error saying that no server with that file is open so I have to reload the page and try 4 or 5 times before I can download. It's still better than waiting 45 seconds for every download on Megaupload and being confined by download limits and whatnot.

Also Mediafire and Megaupload works well with DL managers. Whenever I try to use it on rapidshare the DL becomes broken. I use Megaupload when the download looks like it will take more than 12 hours. I get problems when I suddenly get disconnected on a managed Mediafire and try to reconnect afterwards.
