Some really creative linking building methods, sadly the original web page which displayed this article is 404'ing, so I had to do quite a bit of digging around to retrieve the article, enjoy!

104 Ways To Get Backlinks:

1. Create viral linkbait.
2. Write and give away a free ebook.
3. Write a pillar (authority) article.
4. Create a numbers list (10 ways to xxx, 20 different xxxx).
5. Hold a contest, and require that they link back to you for an entry.
6. Send off interview templates to big bloggers, and post up completed interviews.
7. Create a Wordpress plugin.
8. Design a hot Wordpress theme, and distribute it for free, requiring they keep your link in the footer.
9. Create controversy (be careful and don’t get into something you can’t handle)
10. Find a scammer/shady website or blogger, and make the world known about it.
11. Submit a press release about your new product or news.
12. Submit your site to free directories (careful, only SEO friendly ones)
13. Submit your site to paid directories (dmoz(kidding!), yahoo, alive)

i quickly looked at your list and see there are some methods which will not give you any backlinks. for example, the following 2 sites are nofollow. there are lot of other methods listed here that will not give you any backlink

You list all the way of link building, many of them like

are very difficult. So my point of view concentrate on some activities like forum, dir, bookmarking and article submission and make quality link from it

Very nice list. Agree rena that some of these are difficult and anyone that knows how to create an SEO tool I'm 99.99% sure already knows how to get links to their site.

Ooh, if I spend a day on each method....it'll take me 104 days...LOL

 

List is outdated in my opinion. I think there are of course the obvious ways on there but Google has changed so much now that your best bet is to have relevant websites linking to you because of content you write or because they like your website. Directory links have pretty much become non-existent as far as the PR juice they give you and article directories now have all been downgraded other than Ezine and a few others. Social bookmarking like technorati and digg can bring you traffic but no SEO value unless you get on the front page or popular page and others link.

 

I'm going to have to agree with you because I think content is better than linkbuilding. For example, I created a unique article on "how to hack a comptuer undetected" and it popped up in over 80 sites! too bad I was just working on a blog as an article writer and the owner was making the real money off my knowledge!

Also utilize article marketing and a good article distribution service that can provide unique versions of the article with relevant anchor text for one way back links

Well to be honest, its all dependant on the niche, but something a little controversial or something that's being talked about alot.

The list might be a little intimidating to newbies, therefore I would recommend copying a few of those methods into a word document, or spreadsheet and go from there, its much easier to act them IMO.
