    I didn't realise Smarty had a date function. I've never seen it used before. Would have shown the others if so :)

    Yes, I wonder just how many sites will still have their old 2008 dates - OR... even Before.

    When we move over to 2009, it shall be interesting to see how many websites we can all find that have 2008 copyright dates.

    Maybe I'm missing something. On my website I have four pages that I consider "main pages" and about 170 other, inner pages that rarely change.

    I leave the original copyright date — for example, © 2005 — on those completed inner pages. Every January 1st I change only the four main pages to read something like: © 2004-2009. They are the pages that continually update, so I update only their copyright dates, not the dates on every page.

    Am I overlooking something?

    You should make sure that all your pages site-wide, include the current year. Not just 4 while leaving 100's left with a date from previous years.
