In the progress of building a new website related to newfoundland and labrador, not much is there yet in terms of content but the basic structure/design is done. It's supposed to be minimalist/simplistic, but does it look okay? What would you change? http://www.ournewfoundland.org
I think your main link "click here to enter newfoundland" needs to be MUCH MORE prominent - I almost clicked off the site - remember yopuve only got a few seconds to grab someones attention Other than that, when inside you might want to make the "width" of the main text about 50% narrower - its a lot to read from left to right fully across a screen (hint, use tables to adjust the width, unless any real programmer knows any better) thanks
I added "If you can't see the picture above, click here to enter OurNewfoundland.org" below the picture. Is that better?
Simple is great but I think I would add 2 more square images on either side of the map. They could be of scenes of the Newfoundland landscape or an urban scene.
The design is very simple and I do not think it looks professional, to make the site better you should get a professional template and you should remove your email address from the landing page, when your site starts generating more traffic you will receive quite a bit of spam if you leave your email address on the landing page.
needs color ,photos and larger text with a catchy theme to invite the reader into the site. Too boring as is.
Good idea. I'll look into that. I'm not interested in a flashy professional theme, just something simple. I think it looks fine for an information site for now. I agree about photos, I'll definitely add a few around the website to make it look better, but I'm trying to keep a somewhat minimal look.
maybe an off white instead of plain white and a different back ground color from the color in the boxes
The table header is not centered on IE7, it appears to be left-aligned. On Safari, Firefox and Chrome, it looks good showing the table header on the center. You may want to add align: center attribute on the very first table to make it center. Again this is on IE7 where most people probably uses. Sam
Please, I beg you, don't humiliate us Canadians and use a more professional look please lol. There are a lot of simple, nice-looking templates you could use. But as is - it's so 1999-ish lol.
