Great content is a good way to grab the initial interest, but in order to get some one to come back, you need to have REALLY useful information that they will want to bookmark, or you will want to establish an interactive element in your website. Let me explain. A forum or a blog are awesome ways of getting people to come back. People can make comments, interact with you and each other on your blog. The comments, polls and contest you run are interactive elements that can hold an audience's interest and get them to come back. I think one of the most effective ways to get people coming back is to build an email opt-in list. Get people to sign up to your email newsletter and then email them when you make an update to the site or a useful post on your blog. Build a relationship with them, and try and come across as one of their friend's rather than trying to be too professional or too salesman. Like I mentioned before, contests are great ways to get people coming back. They want to know if they won or not! To sum up, include features on your site which allow people to submit their own content, and or try building an email list.
