Do proxy sites still make money???

Discussion in 'General Business' started by miktor, Dec 23, 2008.

I used to own my fair share of proxy sites almost 2 years ago and was making a decent amount of money. Then it seemed like there were just TOO many proxy sites out there and it wasn't worth making new ones.

What I want to know now is: Are proxy sites still profitable?
Do established ones still sell for $xxx or even more?
What are the new ways of marketing?
And lastly, what is the latest and greatest proxy script?

I have some extra room and bandwidth on a dedicated server and want to put a proxy, or two, on it.

    Thanks in advance

Yes proxy is still profit biz coz now i'm earning $1/day from each of my proxy without any promotion.
The proxy price is depend on your revenueand it can fetch up to 3x of your monthly earning.
    RSS feed and newsletter
I'm using custom make script coz currently the freely available script is not capable of doing the thing that my custom proxy script is doing.

Would you be interested in selling your script? Or what is the next best after your script?

Proxy sites are still profitable. I made $884 last month and I was slacking off.

Established proxies typically only bring 1 to 2 times the monthly income. They are highly volatile so that keeps their selling price down.

There are lots of ways of marketing like:
    Yahoo Answers
    Google Groups
    yahoo Groups
    proxy.org
    School forums
    Myspace
    etc...

The latest and truly greatest is Glype. You can get it for free at Glype.com. I paid over $200 for custom proxy scripting a year ago and glype does everything and more then my custom script. Also it is more compatible and works better with many sites then my old script. Plus the developer and owner of glype is constantly updating his script. There are tons of free themes and many free addons. Its simple and easy to use too. I would totally recommend glype to anyone an that is what I use for my proxies.

Wow $884 is a new car payment plus gas!
Looks like I'm back in the proxy business.

I used to use phproxy and had ads on the 'proxified' pages...can glype do that?

Yes. I used to use a modified version of PHP. Glype can put ads on the proxified pages. I use Adversal popunders and banner ads on the proxified pages. You can check my blog on it at:

as I said before, quality matters not quantity. of course it's better to own more than one

there are many proxy web hosts available today. make sure you have defined a clear Privacy Policy, a disclaimer and Terms of Use for your proxy service

all markets are saturated to a level. think about starting a flash games website for example - the internet is full of them but you can still succeed if you work a lot - so what really counts is the effort you are able to give

I don't think i see the quality when we talk about proxies, anyone is using phproxy or glype , many have a dedicated server, most proxies are blocked fast in schools.

Maybe quality can be : youtube support, unique template, fast server... had all of them and made more money using a shared host than my own dedicated server.
