Do traffic make your page rank increase?

    Hi,

I need to clear this up, Will large traffic alone give you a high page rank?
For example if you have a NEW website and has a very good quality content that users like to read, would it gain page rank?

    Thanks!

It can, but it depends on the type of traffic I've heard. If you traffic posts links or goes through the pages it can raise your rank quickly compared to them not doing so. It is all about connectivity (URL's), the more you give the more you get.

    PR=Backlinks.

High quality traffic and unique content may help you little bit. But IMO PR is not that much important, Its just trade mark given to any site from Google. And if you want PR any how than just build quality lots of backlinks and your PR will be increased.

    Hi akanesakura,
A page rank is solely based on the number of links that you have (both incoming and outgoing). Sorry, traffic alone wont increase your PR;)
Having said that let me tell you some ways on how to go about building links (you might be aware of them already)...

    1. Directory Submissions.
    2. Article Submissions.
    3. Blog Postings.
    4. Press Releases
    5. Forum Posting Signatures etc

Well I believe you should use most of them if not all (in a moderate manner) to get links.

Of course you have tools (read automated softwares) which do submissions for you to generate backlinks. But I would warn you against using them as these, automatic that they are, submit to all kinds of directories and other link sources which might be spammy in nature, in turn harming your website.

I would recommend a manual submissions for the simple reason that most of them are manually reviewed and your website is categorized under the most relevant category.

There are many service providers who offer these services at very nominal prices.

Thus the bottom line is that...links and only links can enhance your PR;)

If you persist and work hard, you will get a lot of visitors to your website. Consider it a long-term project as it will definitely not happen overnight. The best thing you can do is create many back links to your website. For example, go to a blog, and post a comment, something that is relevant and something that creates interest so that people are more likely to click through to your website.

PR and traffic are diff but they are realted. High PR site having more traffic. PR is ranking the page from google according to it value, considering many factor content, BL, traffic, site performance etc

Apparently, a website will receive more traffic if its search engine rankings are very good. And beacause of good rankings its bound to get good PR sooner or later.

    NO directly and yes indirectly...

If you really have a high traffic and good content, other people will repost your content linking back to your site... others will bookmark it... this will affect your PR positively..

its like that .. if you have large relative traffic then some amount of people will bookmark your site if they like it. and will market your site through any tools.. that can help your ranking indirectly.

Traffic alone doesn't affect PR. The only way to increase your PR is to get dofollow backlinks from other high PR sites.

well, if i had enough traffic i really wouldn't care about my pagerank.
but think about this: if you get alot traffic and they like your page than ask them for a backlink!
