Well I believe you should use most of them if not all (in a moderate manner) to get links. Of course you have tools (read automated softwares) which do submissions for you to generate backlinks. But I would warn you against using them as these, automatic that they are, submit to all kinds of directories and other link sources which might be spammy in nature, in turn harming your website. I would recommend a manual submission service for the simple reason that most of them are manually reviewed by the service provider and your website is categorized under the most relevant category.
