Directory Of The Year 2008

I thought this would be a good time to spotlight a Web directory (not your own) which you've come across this year and consider to be above and beyond the 95% of crap and the 5% of decent sites. I'm expecting the red reps saying 'you were paid to say that' so go ahead, but I wasn't.

So for unique categories that have actually been populated, a great blog, well written descriptions, and useful modifications my vote goes to Authority Directory.

I'd also commend Fruity Directory as a nicely designed and well populated niche directory.

Cheers Steve :) I'd go with AuthorityDirectory too as the owner certainly cares. We of course should mention DirJournal. Also looks like DirBuzz is coming along nicely :)

Your blog directory is looking good. Nicely filled categories, decent sites and a professional design. It's well on its way :)

Can't argue with that. I was really hoping to spotlight some young and promising directories or those less established than botw, dmoz, yahoo etc. I've found some decent sites but what lets many of them down is a lack of content.

Green from me, not only a bench mark directory but also available to help where he can.

My money says AD will only get stronger.

Hey, I already gave you a green this week, can I just OWE you the red? LOL

My favorites have been mentioned already... call me a traditionalist. You gonna set up a poll for these things or just do a straw poll thread?

I agree, dmoz is the best! :)
Once your site indexed by dmoz, it will be indexed by google & yahoo too

As it's quite hard to mention only one directory I would list three of them

    Enquira.com
    AuthorityDirectory.com
    LoboLinks.com

Congrats to the three owners for the outstanding work.

    My directory AAR8 of course!! : )

Actually, the only directory paid or free that I have tried that I've ever noticed a real difference after getting into was DMOZ. I get a few referrals every month and I also get a bunch of other links from all the other scraper sites that get their database from DMOZ.

I've got sites in a lot of the other larger directories, but have never noticed any improvement in SEO or traffic after getting in.

Yahoo is best directory from years. I was DMOZ editor (in Poland) and I don't recommend it.
