Ok I have a good idea for a company but I don't know where to start.

I don't want to start paying for a domain and a host when it will take months to get up and running. What should i do? I have tried the free hosts and they are not good at it. I have tried creating a server from my pc but my php isn't working. I don't know what to do.

Is it worth it to buy a domain and hosting and then open 5 months after?

If you think seriously of opening a business i will definitely go for an own domain name and some payed hosting. This way you will gain more trust from your customer base then using just a free domain.

Don't try installing php on your pc at home, you just don't have the bandwith.

Definately get your domain and hosting. If your business gets popular then people will automatically try the .com address, so if you're using a free domain you're going to lose out on a lot of type in traffic. It'll cost around $10 per year for a domain and $3-10 per month for hosting, depending on your requirements. What type of website are you building?

Buy the domain first so no one takes it. Then once your ready purchase hosting and host the domain.

the free hosts are all god awful. I struggled to get my sites going due to slow speed, high downtime etc. for the $5 a month a good shared host charges just get decent hosting with them.

    Good luck in your venture

Use as little credit as possible pay off all credit as soon as possible or you will never experience the freedom of owning your own business. Throwing money at something will not fix it. People are the true value to a sound business.

No, don't. Get a real domain with real hosting and I guarantee you'll get more traffic (if you do same amount of advertising). Proper domains are wayy more memorable, get more type in traffic, and have more freedom. It costs less than $10 and it'll earn you more than that in the long run :)

Yes it definetly worth it coz
1.If you start at next 5 month later, there is a change that your wanted domain is already purchased by other people.
2.The hosting/domain price will be increased in that time.

5 months is too long. If your business is mini or small, some free hosts are enough. But big business, the paid is good for you. At the begining, you can use a free one of a host, when your business grows, it's not a big deal to use its paid service.

Well, if I were you and I had a good idea for a site, the first thing I would do is secure your domain. You don't want someone to come along and accidentally take it from you behind your back. Sure you have to pay a couple months of hosting, but you don't want it stolen from you.
